Cascading effect

I know you have seen people post about this issue many times. I see it all over the forums and we all complain about it. Cascading is the ridiculous issue of the opponent moving gems to make one 3 gem connection and some mystical way they get 30 gems to connect and gain 30-40 mana in one turn. This barely ever happens in quick battles but in events it is beyond rampant. This glitch in the opponent play makes it frustrating for everyone and ruins the game experience.

It's not more rampant in events. It's just that you care about losing more in events than qb, coupled with the fact that event decks are generally better at winning than qb decks.0

Had this twice in my two defeats in the current event.
Was in a commanding position then I got wreck by two Tyrant of Valukat's in one turn.....
Also do you notice your opponents has an awesome turn right before they usually lose, like a last stance.0 -

yes. but I can't complain because I too have gotten last chance cascades that save me on the turn I was going to lose next.
just got one this event vs a Liliana who got an insane cascade that basically means I don't have any cards to play for the next 3 turns (she uses her 1st ability for 3 consecutive turns)
she has a full board of critters. I have none and both of us have zero cards on hand.
enraged mode is on, I have less than enough hp to survive her 3 critter onslaught next turn.
I got an insane string of cascades that gives me enough loyalty to call out my 32/32 octopus. it blocked and killed all 3 critters and won me the game on its next Attack.0 -
Atill it shouldnt happen for either player. Its so unrealistic and super annoying in any event that you are playing in0

in that case, you shouldn't be playing match 3 Gem games.
all match3 gem games incorporate lots of lucky off screen cascade matching (candy crush, the original puzzle quests, puzzle fighters, even marvel puzzle quest)
for a mobile mtg style pure collectible card game, I can only think of yugioh duellinks at the moment. it has it's fair share of issues.0 -

Eh, I often have it get 2 or 3 in QB but I've had it get as many as 6 in events.
That's statistically unlikely if they're playing by the same rules.
I've watched it pass up 5 way in color matches to take 3 way matches that caused a cascade chain so it's obvious that it's playing to off screen gems or simply cheating in events.
It doesn't do it in QB.
I've also watched it play dumb moves like killing their own creatures, using 1 round powers on things that have summoning sickness, etc so it's obvious it's cheating on mana to make up for bad AI.0 -

that could just be dumb luck. I've seen the ai pass up
a 5 match in favour of the same gem 4 match and no
cascade.

Hey everyone. I just want to reassure you all that the AI is in no way rigged or coded to have more favorable cascades than the player does.Hibernum_JC wrote:The AI absolutely does NOT know what gems are going to fall, and does not even take into account the layout of the board when making a match. There are a few rules as to how it picks it's matches, but none of that ever analyses the board, knows what's coming, knows that making a match will make a cascade, nothing.0

I'd like to agree with you, but ai always knows what's coming and we don't.
Just lost a game in the 2x event to a part thr waterveil and 3 nissa renewals spawning a 60/60 elemental from a standing start and 2 exert inlfuence to take my 28/28 zombie and 14/14 mindbender
Forgot to mention i was on max hp and he was on ONE hp0 -
It's infuriating. Just had a match where my first turn got out Sphinx's Tutelage. My opponent, Ally Gideon, cascades out Sanctifier of Souls, Gisela, and Supression Bonds gets a free swap, summons 4 2/2 white knight ally tokens, cascades off again and ends the turn with fully charged loyalty.
There was no recovering from that.0 -
Love this game...
So many anooying things.
Caacading when they say it doesn't.
Unable to take or get rares you need.
Poor rare drop rate
Love it0 -
What would you guys think about cascades having diminishing returns? By that I mean that matches made with gems that are not visible at the start of cascade and fall down later would give less mana.
It could work something like this:
At the start of a player-induced match, each gem on the battlefield would get a (malus) score of 0, and a separate top-score counter would get 0 well.
Whenever a match is made, its mana is calculated as: number of gems + PW bonus - maximum score of matched gems, minimum of 1; and top-score counter is updated if needed (i.e. the new value is the maximum of the top-score counter and the score of each matched gem).
Whenever a new gem is created above the visible field and is about to fall down, its score is set to top-score counter + 1.
For example, lets have the following cascade (with matched gems being the newest ones):
3 green + 3 black, 4 white, 3 blue, 4 red, 3 white, 4 green.
Nissa (+1 white, +3 green, +1 red) would currently get 6+3 + 5 + 3 + 5 + 4 + 7 = 33 mana.
In this new proposed system she would get 6+3 + [5-1] + [3-2] + [5-3] + [4-4] + [7-5] = 9 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 20 mana.
Nahiri (+4 white, +1 green, +4 red, -1 black) would get 4+2 + 8 + 3 + 8 + 7 + 5 = 37 mana versus 4+2 + [8-1] + [3-2] + [8-3] + [7-4] + [5-5] = 6 + 7 + 1 + 5 + 3 + 1 = 23 mana.
If one wanted to be more aggressive, the new gems could get a score of top-score + 2. This would result in
6+3 + [5-2] + [3-4] + [5-6] + [4-8] + [7-10] = 9 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 16 mana for Nissa and
4+2 + [8-2] + [3-4] + [8-6] + [7-8] + [5-10] = 6 + 6 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 17 mana for Nahiri.
As a side-effect, players would get more loyalty relative to mana gain, since longer cascades would give almost the same amount of loyalty but less mana.
Stuff to be worked out:
Should it affect loyalty gems as well?
Should an extra match reset the scores or continue with scores from the previous match? The answer to this would affect other matches caused by abilities' gem conversions and destructions during a single turn.0
