Level 435 5*, good enough? Worth 720 cp to get to level 450?

At least for pvp, once you break into the 5* mmr i feel there are enough championed 5*s that even having one isn't going to give you much if any advantage but having 5*s at less than level 450 is a pretty big disadvantage. Am i very wrong?

Is it worth spending 720 or 1440 to finish off a level 435 or level 420 5*?

As a free to play player i think i somehow accumulate about 600 cp each month from event progression, champion level rewards, daily resupply and the odd alliance purchase. Probably means i play more mpq than i should.

which 5* do you intend to use the CP on?

not all 5* are borne equal. some are more equal than others.

I have a 5/3/4 Phoenix, 2/4/5 Silver Surfer, and a 5/5/0 oml that no amount of cp can directly help until i get that 1st red cover.

So i'm thinking about championing phoenix. I'm already seeing mostly championed 5*s in pvp because mine are leveled to 435, 420 and 405.

Will spending the cp here help me catch up?

I have 17 championed 4*s including all the good ones so will a 450 Phoenix and a championed 4* be the game changer i think it will be in pvp?

Bad news. it will never be the "game changer". mainly because even when champed, you will still be fighting against those with multiple champ levels, such as a 460 Oml. this is how the mmr works now.

the best thing about champing 5* is that you no longer have to worry about having a duplicate cover.

i personally would not spend that CP to champ it. 720 CP is equivalent to 36 classic pulls. the 36 pulls can give you champ levels for your 4* and also a chance for you to pull covers for the other 5*.

i had my oml at 3/4/5 for about a year and i never did considered using the Cp. i just continue pulling the tokens, awaiting the lucky pull. and in the mean time, i actually managed to max covered my SS too!

but that's just my opinion. let's see what the others will say.

I saved up 720 CP, then started spending the excess CP on Classic Legends hoping I'd get lucky and pull a purple cover for my 5/2/5 Phoenix. Eventually I got another green and spent the CP on a purple so I could champ her. That was a pretty good strategy since if I had gotten lucky I could have spent the saved CP on tokens later...

This is probably what you should do too.

Your 5/3/4 can be champed with two colors, so going the 36 pulls is probably your best option (but if you are already close to the 720, Quebbster option might be the best to do).

The good news is that your PH will improve A LOT once you can respec her purple to 5. The bad news is that, having just one 5 champed also makes you an easy target for anybody with champed 5s (also for people with just one champed 5). But your matches should be much faster with a champed 3/5/5 PH.

As someone with highest 5* at 405 I constantly get hit by people with champion 5*s so i'm planning on championing my SS who I have maxed and a dupe waiting now. At least I will have something that can compete as the only teams I usually see are champion 5* teams and sometimes level 420ish 5* teams.

    Tough call on this one.

5/3/4 Phx is a bad luck build and that one purchased cover will be a BIG improvement for her. Ideally you want her either 3/5/5 or 5/5/3 depending on who you pair her with and your comfort level on how much you want to manage/think about her revival.

Championed Phx does pair well with your existing non-championed Surfer or OML to boot.

That being said, the reason this is a tough call is that you seem to have a LOT of classics that would benefit from covers still. Odds are pretty good that those 720 CP will pull either 1 useful PHX, SS or OML among other classics along the way. If I were you I'd keep on the RNG train and buy classics with CP as you earn it.

Aside from the fact the most common Pho build post championing is 454 because the 5th red adds very little.

Not sure where you get the math showing 36 pulls giving a good shot at a usable cover given his distribution of existing covers from - his odds of a useless cover assuming he drew the right 5* from the 8 now in classic legends are only slightly better then his odds of getting a useless duplicate cover and aren't anywhere close to what I'd describe as 'good'

Follow quibbles plan would be my best advise

I would not spend the cp for that last cover of a 5 star if it will be your first 5 star. In my opinion It is pointless to have only one 5 star champed. You will be solely using it in pve as nodes will be over scaled. And your mmr in pvp will not make you a target.

I did not champ my first 5 star until I could bring a second one along.

As a guy who doesn't have the ability to spend a ton of money in the game (I do VIP, and rarely a few HP) I am jealous of all of you with high-covered 5*. My highest is at 9 (OML) with two more at 7 (SS and Phoenix) and another at 6 (BW). I'd say that unless the other covers would all go to waste, save up and buy the tokens. Especially since two colors will help you push your Phoenix, instead of just one.

Quebbster and Babinro have the best advice, in my opinion. Buying a cover outright is not really an ideal value proposition and Phoenix won't positively impact your performance quite the same way being your first 5* champ as Logan would. Save 720, then pull classics until you get something that forces your hand.
