3* Punisher Retribution and The Thing interaction

Experienced a very lovely bug tonight in the Punisher PVP. I was fighting a match with my 3Pun, champed Phoenix and champed Thing. It was against a much lower level team due to MMR so I went in without healing my phx expecting to flip her for a heal. Unfortunately for me, the AI decided to try to use retribution on her. It would have killed her which I was fine with so she would flip sooner. Unfortunately my full health Thing jumped in front and was instantly killed.

I'm pretty sure there is a problem with the order of operations there or something. I would understand if he also met the criteria for the instant kill but he had over 30,000 hps.
