new event format suggestions

while I am relatively new to MtG: PQ (just started in September), I have been playing app games for a while (RIP Rage of Bahamut icon_e_sad.gif ) and have seen several complaints lately about the event formats. I have only seen 4 types of event myself: Avacyn, Enraged, Nodes of Power, and Emrakul.

on the assumption that events really come down to 2 things: battles between asynchronous PvP or battles between players and pre-constructed monster decks, and the subsequent reward system after battle objectives are complete, I have a couple ideas to bounce around

1. new background function to track cumulative event score by specific login. player maintains their score even if leaving a coalition

2. new event type of coalition vs coalition, players would be seeded by cumulative event score and matched up accordingly. each player gets 5 attacks (1 per color) and event lasts 24 hours. could potentially be built into a longer series of battles to determine event winner, or just remain standalone battles.

3. new event type of coalition cooperative quest event, where there would be 4 (or more) tiers of monsters, tiers 1 and 2 would be individual player battles, as players beat lower level decks, it fills a meter, once meter is full, unlocks a tier 3 boss that anybody in the coalition can attack. tier 3 monster would have fixed HP amount (ie 5,000) and players would battle to accrue damage before dying or also having the option of ending the attack. that damage would be taken off the monster total. prize points for killing the monster would be allocated based off of total damage by player. coalition beats X number of tier 3 monsters and tier 4 mythic boss unlocks. then cycle resets

also, I think there need to be suggestions for secondary objectives. I agree that the Emrakul objectives are a mess, and in fact I ignore them as I feel they are counterintuitive to the game. however I rarely see viable replacement suggestions apart from the regular ones found in story mode like "only lose 10 life" or "kill 5 creatures." one I have thought of is "Cast each of the PW loyalty abilities." are there any other objectives that players can think of that can be accomplished without creating hour long games where you have to work against your own deck?

unfortunately, with all of the recent issues, as much as I would like to suggest a true "live" PvP format, having seen various issues with that before, this platform just doesn't feel ready for that type of event yet.

Excellent idea, this would be quite nice

Would absolutely love this and was hoping that this would actually be a feature!

This is exactly what I thought the Avacyn Madness event would be like. I remember playing a different puzzle quest game (can't remember which one) that was basically 5 people playing against the same boss which had an absurd amount of health and abilities and all damage was shared between the 5 players over a set period of time.

To me, this would feel much much much more like a coalition event, where you can share strategies with each other etc., rather than what Avacyn's Madness is (which is basically just a single player event and you accumulate scores instead).

I really hope something like this will be brought in!!
