Making the 4* leap is scary!

Hi. I'm a 3* player. I just champed 3Blade and that's significant because he was the last 3* I want to champ. I have all of them champed except Squirrel, Otto, Sentry, and Colossus (who can all wait). My champs range in level from 167 to 192.
I like it in 3* land. With so many champed I have lots of roster options and my flexibility is the greatest its ever been. It's a cozy and comfortable place to be in and quite frankly I don't want to leave my 3* friends behind. I already miss my 2* friends, like Ares and Wolverine, who were tough enough to compete with enemy 3-stars when I was making that transition. Plus, its scary to think about making that next jump into unknown waters. What if my MMR goes crazy and all I see is OML/Pheonix? What if I make the jump too soon and I can't handle the scaling? What if I don't have enough Howard the Duck covers? So many questions. So many insecurities.
My 4* roster is all over the place. I have them all, but the only one I've put ISO into is xfw (he's champed) and the rest sit at base level 70. I'm getting close to fully-covering some more like Ghost Rider and Hulkbuster (each 2 covers away), Drax and Electra (3 covers away), Baglady, Winter Soldier, Nova (4 covers away). But some of the top-tier ones I'm not even close on, like Thoress (only 2 covers), Peggy (4 covers), Iceman & ProfX (5 covers), Rhulk (6 covers) with everyone else falling somewhere in-between.
As I fully-cover 4* characters is it best to soft cap their level so they don't surpass my highest 3* characters? Do I wait to level any of them until I start cover-maxing the better ones? Or do I go hog wild and champ them as soon as they're cover-maxed, damning the consequences?
Give me some advice!

If you champ another 4 star, you will definitely start seeing champed 4s in pvp. PvE can be harder too if your champed 4 is boosted for the week. However, if you get enough covers to champ Hulkbuster, you probably should.0

Your remaining 3*s are the same ones I haven't done and I'm up to 12 maxed 4*s now.
Remember this: without spending a great deal of $$ you'll never have enough iso to champ all the characters in the game.
They have increased the iso flow a bit over the last few months, but you'll still never get them all. I'm sure you remember what it was like when you were trying to get xfw from 200-270. It's expensive. Save that iso for the good ones.
You can soft cap your 4's at the same level as your 3's and have one big happy family. It will severely limit your pvp capability, but you'll be able to have fun in pve. It used to be generally a bad idea, but the rewards and effort required for pve have changed a lot and it's not the worst idea ever anymore. I still wouldn't do it, but you could if you really enjoy pve and don't care about pvp.
Don't stress out about the scaling. It won't be a problem. I'd max HB once you get those last 2 covers. The best 4* to start with would be HB, Rhulk, 4cyc, Ice or 4thor. Partly because they're among the strongest, but mostly because your existing 3* support characters (IM40, switch, fist) work so well with them, so you don't need to use 2 4*s together, you can just have one and still do fine.0 -
Honestly, if you're worried about your 4*s I'd champ your remaining 3*s. You're likely not going to use them (although I find myself using Otto a lot), but putting every 3* cover pulled is good and the legend tokens waiting are nice. In the end, they're basically HP farms that occasionally give you 4* covers and tokens.
But if you want to move on to 4*s Hulkbuster is a good starting point. He's not the undisputed king he used to be, but he's still super solid, especially for the 3-4 transition. For a long while XFW and HB were my only 4*s and XFW/Loki/Magneto and HB/Iron Fist/Cyclops were my go-to teams.
Though the smart answer is just save ISO for now. If you get the last covers for HB start dumping into him, but if you pull another cover for the 4 3*s and no HB in sight then you might as well champ 'em.
Oh, and I wouldn't worry about not getting enough Duck covers, like, ever.0 -
You are so close to finishing them, I would just finish champing all your 3*s. It's nice knowing that any 3* cover won't be worth just ISO.0
