I genuinely would prefer a post that says "we have something in the works to address X" or "we heard you about Y issue and we are thinking about it", rather than the radio silence (which is only broken to ban/warn/lock)0
-
Well the forum has gone to waste basically.
While there was not much communication from the very beginning, there has been a time when JC used to post sometimes.
Now it's all about silence.
I know the company is small but... Really?
It's like saying "my selling shop is small so I could not send you an email to warn the package was going to be sent with some delay". It make no sense.
All the issues(and are many) can't be addressed and even not replied to.
Fine.
But some little presence... It does not require much time and goes a long way.
When you see things in this perspective is easy to get things in the wrong way.
Like "they don't care", "they want only our money" and similar.
I am one of those old players that tried to discuss and help others in forum, chat, Facebook, whatever.
Recently I feel much less willing to do it.
The lack of communication does not help me to understand which is the direction they have in mind for the game and thus if it's going to stay interesting over time or not.0 -
IamtheDanger it doesn't change anything if you play paper MtG or not. i'd be willing to believe that you could communicate with the devs on our behalf effectively if i had ever seen your name before on this subforum. i didn't recognize you, and doing a brief trip through your post history i didn't find anything related to MtGPQ.
The only mods who actually do come to visit us are just there for janitorial/"peacekeeping" activities
So the paying customer base is being told by non-employees that the non-employees are the best we're going to get, even though the non-employees actually play a similar but entirely seperate game and are not guaranteed to understand what we mean describing bugs, events, etc.IamTheDanger wrote:yeah, same situation over there. you know it's not funny to anyone else that other users on this forum are experiencing problems with you guys locking/deleting threads? seems like a bit of a gaffe on your point to show how little it bothers you..
Also care to explain why you are dealing with Steve like this? i commented in each of those threads with a similarly vitriolic tone and received no warnings. Nuking his account from the shadows every few days would be fine if he was a random player, but he runs the facebook group that has more active posters daily than these forums. i think he cares about this game a little more than you give him credit for. and probably a lot more than you yourself do, excuse my being blunt.0 -
So it turns out when you don't communicate with your paying playerbase, they turn hostile and flood your forum with spam posts.
The people responsible for representing the companies associated with MtG:PQ are doing an abysmal job at communicating effectively with the people who end up paying their salary.
I believe that what we as customers do is boycott in-app purchases in the name of increased transparency and communication with responsible parties that goes beyond the well-meaning moderators of this forum.0 -
IamTheDanger wrote:I will try to answer some of the concerns on here.
Topics are locked and warnings/bans are ONLY given when someone breaks the forum rules. Insulting others, circumventing the language filter, trolling, etc.. is not allowed. You are allowed, and even encouraged, to voice your complaints and concerns. We just ask that you do so in a polite, civil and constructive way. There's no need for name calling or threats or inappropriate postings.
We, the forum mods, are volunteers that help manage the forum. ALL forums. The MPQ, MtG and Adventure Time are all part of the same forum so we moderate all 3 games regardless of our level of play in any of them. Me personally, I only play MtG casually, one or two times a week, but YES, i do play MtG. However, being a life long Marvel fan, I play MPQ daily. We are NOT employees of Demiurge or D3. We have nothing to do with any game design decisions.
When someone gets a warning/ban, or a topic is locked/removed, it is because it was in violation of forum rules. Or it was not constructive or helpful in anyway, or was considered offensive or vulgar. If someone has an issue, then please feel free to P.M. a mod at anytime instead of making a thread about it.
We are not trying to censor the players. It's just that sometimes, people forget that this is PG rated forum.
Thank you. Danger.
OMG did someone actually reply??? I thought the mods only knew how to post update info and then never answer our questions about said posts.
Cheers!0 -

You're correct. And thank you for being blunt without being offensive. I have rarely ever posted in the MtG section. Once in the Bugs section and once in a PW thread long ago. Might be one or two more, but I can't remember. It was a year or so ago when I started playing MtGPQ. But that doesn't mean that I don't read the posts. Like you said, its more of a "peacekeeping" scenario. Half the bugs I see reported on here I've never seen. But it's the same way with MPQ. Others report bugs, crashes and glitches all the time that I just don't ever see when I play. And I play MPQ several hours everyday. So much, that I think I might be addicted beyond redemption. So basically, IMO, not experiencing those bugs myself and not playing competitively means that I have nothing to add to the discussions.
What I meant about playing the paper card game was that I prefer that over PQ version. Which is the reason I don't play PQ competitively.
About your quote, I apologize if it seemed insensitive. The lol was directed to the sentence "this thread tickled me". There was a bit of story leading up to that particular thread. One of those, "ya had to be there" kind of things. So I apologize for my poor choice of wording.
About Steve. I can't comment on the actions taken against other members by other mods or HiFi. I can tell you that whenever an action is taken against a forum member, they are notified as to why.0 -
Hey man you might not have all the answers I want to hear, but thanks for coming back and having the cojones to keep talking.
Good luck with this situation.0 -

Well, yes, but I can't TELL anyone why the actions were (contentiously!) taken against me, because you delete my threads and lock my account.
Like you're just about to with this one.0 -
I would take a moderator more serious if they didn't have a giant "Look at me!" signature.0

My sig banner is Peggy Carter. My favorite, and the best, character in MPQ. Having her go through her power animations in my sig is my way of showing just awesome a character Peggy is. A testament the great job Demiurge did in her design.0 -

What is... power animation?
In Marvel Puzzle Quest, the characters have 3 different abilities/powers. When you use a power, there is an animation that plays. Peggy Carter has one where she punches the enemy, throws her shield, blocks an attack or just stands there. All characters have animations. Cyclops uses his optic blast, Wolverine slashes with his claws, Iceman freezes, Human Torch burns, Hulk Smashes. The animations in my sig are the animations that play when using each of Peggy's powers.0 -
Ahem, let's keep this thread on topic please, don't want it to get locked.
Seriously though, this is a perfect example of why threads should not get locked just for going off topic, even if things do get a little heated (clearly things are not getting heated in this thread).0 -
I think I'm beginning to understand... animation.

IamTheDanger wrote:jackvett wrote:I think y'all need to realize that this isn't the same game or community as MPQ. So while your methods work great their with a fanbase that is (i assume) totally enthralled in their own navels, here we are pretty freaking dissatisfied.
If you see us butting heads inappropriately, sure, tell us to calm down and act like adults. But when one user comes into a thread telling everyone to shut up and sit on their hands? Yeah, you can bet that folks aren't gonna take it quietly. Why you mods feel that this forum needs to be pristine, I don't know. It reminds me so much of children throwing away broken glass/porcelain and hoping nobody heard it break.
If the moderators of this forum can't publicly guarantee that posters are allowed to express their dissatisfaction, and can't lay out for us/me exactly how we "get" to do that, then you must acknowledge that there is no free speech here, only approved opinions.
Bolded emphasis mine*
The first part bolded, that is what I was talking about. Was that necessary? No. It was inappropriate and uncalled for.
Second part bolded, link below is exactly how you get to do it.

As long as these rules are followed, you can post whatever.
Thank you for the clarification. The first time I read this, I thought it would link to how to become a moderator, but the forum rules warrant reading (I admit I had never bothered to read them before). How does one become a forum moderator? Could we get someone from the core mtgpq community to help moderate?IamTheDanger wrote:I get that a big problem is the lack of communication between the players and the devs. I'll ask about this, but I will go ahead and tell you, Demiurge and D3 are small companies, so their time is limited.
I assume Demiurge is the Dev company making Marvel:PQ, Hibernum is the Dev company making MTG:PQ FYI.0 -
Nice to see a mod talking like regular person. I personally appreciate your engagement. My takeaway from this is that you definitely understand the situation. All I humbly ask is that you pass along the collective feeling of disconnect the community has with the developers. I'm one of the frustrated ones, the ones who have supported the game and feel shut out, and even I'm staggered at the flood of "we're unhappy, devs!" posts in the gen dis section. And one of the most critical signs that this situation is snowballing rapidly is the fact that 9/10 of the names I see lately are users I've never seen post in the forums before. People who before didn't feel the need to comment and interact are flooding the forums to say the same things a small group of us have been saying for a while now. And some of the long time players I used to see here all the time have started to almost give up trying to communicate or express concerns. And a lot of these legacy players who before weren't that negative have now gotten VERY negative, so much so that they (we) have totally changed the tone and nature of our posts. I'm a coalition leader as well, and I've noticed a sharp uptick in negativity in chat.
Ive gotten a couple warnings myself, and honestly, it's all out of the same frustration felt by everybody else. I don't generally get sassy unless I feel a compelling reason to do so. And I'd bet most of us shouting from the rooftops are on the same page. We don't cop a 'tude because we're internet trolls, it's because we're in love with the game, for some even borderline obsessed, and it's gotten to the point where it feels necessary to be heard. We have a voice, and it's getting louder and nastier because we feel ignored and insulted.
Didn't mean to write a novel lol but I wanted to take advantage of the fact that a mod, and a decent one at that, is here, talking, and most importantly, listening. This is what we need. Again, thank you.0 -
Just a piece of advice from experience over at the MPQ board. Our boards went through the angry phase that you guys are going through. The only thing it did was push the devs farther and farther away. So while it may feel good to get it off your chest, it truly is counterproductive. Heck, we still don't get regular communication, or even much communication at all, from the devs and MPQ has been around for 3 years and kicking.
Just try to civilly put your complaints into posts without flaming or insulting and hopefully Hibernum will come around and gives you guys some info. I know it's frustrating. We also do have a Mod who plays MtGPQ fairly regularly, as well as MPQ, so we are going to try and get him to mod over here more often.
Again, we know how frustrated you guys feel. We've felt it ourselves. Just try to hang in there and keep the tone down as you wait for word from Hibernum. The mods and David put in requests to Hibernum for an update for you guys, but unfortunately, all we can do is request. If we could force devs to update us, we'd have started doing it years ago, lol.0 -

All this tells me is that we should play the game and expect nothing in return (as far as communication), but to not lose hope that one day they listen to us and/or talk to us.
I'm not sure what Marvel forums were like to you in your reference, but if all we have to look forward to is a few years of what we're experiencing now, then why bother continuing being a part of this community?
Also, some players are keeping the money following into their pockets. A little common sense and decency would dictate more transparency IMO.0
