Day 999 - 4* transition time! Level assistance

Yes, today is day 999 and I'm only just beginning my 4* transition... don't judge! F2P player, with a lot of casual play in those 999 days.

Champed my 39th 3* a couple of weeks ago and have been now opening the odd LT I had saved and spending some CP so starting to get some 4*s almost usable from a cover basis. I'm HP starved though and already have Wasp, 3* Strange and 5pider in my Q needing a spot so can't open any more tokens yet for fear of a 4th missing toon in my Q (to be fair, only missing Black Bolt, 5trange, Drax and Moon). I can earn the HP to roster the above 4 in the time I have them though (just!), so more token opening is in my future.

I've been spending ISO on the good 4*s up to the mid-100's with no questions. Now though I've started to actually almost get a usable 4th star, 4cyc and Thoress at 9 covers, PX at 8, Ice, Thing & DPXF at 7, XFW, Fury & Dino at 11 (though less highly rated, also IW at 13). The 2 9 cover toons can be levelled to 188, this puts them on par with my highest 3* champs. My question is, does this now start to bug out my scaling and MMR?

I'm quite content with my 3* scaling just now and no desire to squeeze it for the benefit of a barely usable 4*, so I'm thinking I'll wait, but more intrigued than anything since I've around 400k ISO burning a whole in my account... I'm assuming 188 will have negligible difference, it would be the next cover that pushed the levels over 200 that might. I think I read somewhere it was to do with your boosted 3* levels, in which case I should be good since they are easily in the mid-200s.

Question then is at what level does your 4* start to dictate your gameplay meta?

I've championed all my 3*, have a bunch of 255 5*, and my best 4* are Hulkbuster with 218 and Iceman with 209. In my experience it hasn't affected the scaling that much.

Some 4s play very well with the 3s (Hulkbuster + Iron Fist, Thoress + IM40)
