XFW Recovery did not trigger match effect

Doing Big Enchilada, down to one goon (low health) in wave 2. I had a Recovery countdown on the board, and my best move was to create a match-5. The damage from the match was enough to kill the goon. The resulting critical tile landed on the Recovery tile and matched it away against the already-dead goon.

The wave rolled over, but at no point did the Recovery tile's match effect kick in. Even though the damage would have gone to waste, I didn't get any of the board shake that comes with it. No activation banner, nothing.

    Strangely, I managed to get a near-duplication on this. The critical didn't fall into a cascade, but I was able to use the critical to create a match-5 (L-shape again) with the Recovery tile, downing the last enemy (Moonstone this time) with the match damage. Cascade resolved, wave rolled over, still my turn, but no tile destruction for breaking the Recovery tile.

    Interestingly, it was at the end of Wave 2 again.
