Should I champ Ghost Rider? Have only champed two 4*s so far

Hi
I am still well and truly in the 4* transition, having only championed Thor and Hulkbuster. I am able to champ Ghost now as I have spare covers for him but I realise he is mid tier and primarily for boss fights. I've passed up champing Fury in the past for similar reasons but wanted to get other input.
I have enough ISO to champ one 4* at the moment, with no one else of note fully covered. Rulk is one red off but who knows when that will drop. So should I boost my ranks or hold off for the likes of Rulk, Ice, Jean? My roster is in my signature
Cheers

If you can hit 900 in the Squirrel Girl PVP (the one that will run after Ghost Rider), you will get a Red Hulk red. I currently have two green covers for RHulk sitting in my queue so I have been watching for that.
Back to your original question, I have Ghost Rider championed and use him quite a bit in PVE. Respecced to 5/5/3 his cheap powers fire off fairly quickly, and he's a blast to bring along in wave battles. I find that I rarely use his black, but if I'm bringing him along to a non-wave battle, I will drop his red or green down to get black up to 5, just in case.
He's especially fun to play with anyone who benefits from special tiles (like Prof. X or either 3* or 4* Sam Wilson), or makes powers cheaper (like Hood or Star-Lord).
But hands down, Red Hulk is the better short term option for you, especially if you can make that 900 progression later this week. My RHulk is at 250 and covered at 3/5/4 -- his green is amazing when boosted and the cover I'm missing for purple makes him much more self-accelerating. Oh, and speaking of boosted -- Red Hulk is boosted this coming week.0 -
Boosted rhulk can get you 900-1000 without shield in pve. Keep iso for him for sure. He is much better choice. He is one of the 4* that are worth spending 120 cp for the last cover. Since hearly should be a next reward you might wait. Otherwise consider cp if have iso.0

Thanks both, especially for pointing out the red cover.
I now have both Ghost and and Rulk at 190, with 4 Ghost covers waiting. Given I don't know when I next will get another Rulk cover (assuming I hit 900 in PVP), I wondering whether I have time for both
I'm sitting on 324k worth of ISO and would need 559k to champ both, a shortfall of 234k. I can sell a 2* for 65k and spend my tacos to gain ~90k of ISO, leaving me with only 79k to find by the time Rulk next drops (or I can save up the 120cp).
Does that sound like a plan?
(My full covered Invisible Woman, Mr Fantastic and Fury are not part of the plan)0 -
With that many GR covers in your queue, I'd honestly still champ him and add the covers. Boosted 4*s do more match damage than level 255 5*s, so on boosted GR weeks, you'll at least get that benefit.
You have 2 2*s you could sell without impacting your DDQ chances (no reason 2Marvel, MNMags, and 2Daken can't handle it all) in the event that you come across an extra Rulk cover or if you'd like to bring him to max level ahead of that anyway.
Since you don't have any Rulk covers waiting, that would be my strategy. Max GR, gather what ISO you can to bring Rulk as high as possible for now, then scramble for ISO if/when another cover hits.
Btw, "tier" value is still somewhat subjective. Sure, Iceman, Rulk, Hulkbuster, Peggy, 4Clops, etc. will be stronger overall, but most characters with offensive value can carry their own weight. Fury was my 3rd 4* champ, and I thoroughly enjoy playing him - his boosted 5 cover yellow does 8k single-target, 3k AoE, stuns, creates crits (that hit HARD with boosted 4 damage), and creates seriously beefy protect tiles if you can fire it at full strength - and in nodes with high health opponents, you will get to do so quite easily.
Mr. F and IW in their current state aren't worth it really, but most other characters have significant offensive punch in boosted weeks as long as they have damaging powers.
Once you have an upper-middle to top tier 4* champed, the overall strength of the next 4* champ starts to matter less. For reference, I have Thor, IMHB, Fury, Star-Lord, Ant-Man, and XFW champed, and they all see play time, even unboosted.0 -
Thanks Smudge.
Since the last post I managed to sneak in and get the Red Rulk cover, it was a mission but worth it, he's now at 225.
A Hood cover got me another GR cover, so that made it five. Championing GR gave me a token which turned out to be yet another GR cover! Rolling in GR covers.0
