Not listing 4* since it seems it's not really viable to run them in any team.

Comments

  • I'd probably just stockpile ISO.

For 3*, i'd only consider Doctor Doom and IM40, if you like those characters. They both overlap most of their matching and colors with your current 3* (Mag and Psylocke), so your call. IM40 would probably be only as a battery with yellow and as a boosted character for events/Courageous rounds. Doom is solid for Lightning Rounds with 4 black.

All other 3* won't be useful with their current cover amounts. Maybe Hood to sit in the background and drain AP, but you don't need to level him to do that.

As for 2*, i'd skip OBW, since she can't match on most colors if you are using Psylocke or C Mag, therefore her black is useless. Her blue could be useful as a tile delay, but why not just use C.Mags blue to eliminate those tiles?

I Like Ares, but he's a side grade to 2* Thor.
  • Thanks for the advice SirK. I was leaning towards P.Wolvie but from what I've been reading about the upcoming nerfs to Spidey and C.Mags I wouldn't be surprised if other chars got nerfed/changed.
  • Oh sorry, I should have asked, are you a player who pays HP to level up covers? If you are, then it opens your options up much more.

Ideally you'd probably build characters that match well with your CMag or Psylocke. You're missing active skills on Yellow and Green.

LazyThor 3/5/5 is probably a good candidate, since you have each of his 3 covers, and is a direct upgrade from your Thor. Hood 5/5/3 could work as well, since the blue will feed your other skills, and you have the AP Generation from yellow to help even more.

Patch Wolverine works great with C.Mag, but you don't have a red cover for him yet, so that will limit his levels. Personally I like 3/5/5 but I could see 5/3/5 working good with C.Mag.
  • SirK.

I dont pay for GP, so that really limits my options. I do have a couple (~89) health packs from when Rag was OP. I suppose I'll wait for the next lightning round to get a red P.Wolvie cover.

I have been leveling up LazyThor (@ 105 or so now)...I use him a lot (he's my highest level char), & he's more powerful than the 2* max 85 version...I level up others depending on upcoming tourneys (when I can)...good luck...
  • ih8uf,

what's the team you're running? do you run into any difficulty when facing some matchups?

I have been using mostly Thor (Modern) 2/4/5, OBW 3/5/5 & Storm (Classic) 5/5/3....the biggest difficulty I've seen is from luck of matches (or possible matches) on the board...I try to get Blues (I can stun with Storm or heal with OBW if I need to), Greens (Thor hits big) & Purple (OBW keeps enemies from using powers)...other than that, I try to stay away from too many high level opponents (6000+ health)

The villain lightning rounds give out covers as rewards, the hero lightning rounds give out 3* hero tokens. So getting a Red Patch with one of those tokens is a 1 in 18 chance.
  • Patch is never a bad idea if you're "A" team includes Magneto. You look to be cover constrained a bit. It looks like your only legitimate options at this point are Doom or IM40. Of the two, I like Doom much better, but he's still not a great fit in that team. I would go for Patch (or Punisher) covers in Courageous tokens if I were you and concentrate on that. Lazy Thor would be great also, but it looks like the gravy train of Lazy Thor covers has stopped momentarily.
  • regarding P.Wolvie how should i skill him? 5/3/5? 3/5/5? etc...

    5 Green and another 5.

5/5/3 makes him a coldblooded killer with some regeneration. 5/3/5 lets him tank his own attack tiles for a bit. BUt at 3/5/5 Punishers green is superior, his red is arguably better and then it is punisher black vs regeneration.

It's really a question of how you play and which other characters you frequently mix him with.

5/5/3 - Pros: Ultimate strike tile generation, lots of damage. Cons: the other team gets lots of strike tiles also and Patch healing not as guaranteed with 3 Yellow. Summary: you can win many matches quicker, but adds risk of higher collateral damage and healing post-battle.

5/3/5 - Pros: Top Green strike tile generation and guaranteed Yellow healing. Cons: Lesser damage on Patch's most powerful single nuke ability Red. Summary: Patch's Red is greatly affected by team composition because it depends on Patch having primary match on 2-3 colors. This build may make sense if you usually have another very strong Red damage dealer, or a team where Patch doesn't have at least 2 primary match colors.

3/5/5 - Pros: Top damage on Red nuke ability and guaranteed Yellow healing. Cons: Fewer Green strike tiles. Summary: Probably the "safest conservative build" in keeping full healing and single Red nuke ability. Fewer Green strike tiles, however that also means fewer collateral strike tiles for the other team.
  • Running patch ideally would be with C.Mags and Psylocke. Ideally since psylocke uses red i would go into 5/3/5 but i'm still on edge.

Lv 85 - C.Storm - 5/5/3 ---- Lv 21 - Mag - 5/5/3 -- MN Mags and C.Storm is a strong combo. You'll want to get MN Mags Red up to 5 eventually -- it generates lots of AP. His blue does not generate AP.

    Lv 9 - Capt America - 5/5/3 --- Lv 8 - OBW - 5/3/5 --- Lv 6 - Ares 5/4/2 --- OBW is the most useful characters. Make her your next priority.

Lv 21 - IM40 - 4/2/5 Lv 21 - GSBW - 3/3/2 Lv 19 - Hood - 2/3/3 Lv 18 - Lazy Thor - 1/1/1 --- Best bet is to try to get more Lazy Thor covers in tournaments. All of these guys are good, but only truly shine with full covers.

So, for the moment, work on OBW, and then MN Mags. Do prologue missions with MN Mags and C. Storm, and see if you like their synergy. There will likely be a repeat of the MN Mags event in the next few months.
