After new update, game does not run in the background

I used to be able to go to my home screen and keep the game running in the background, even in the middle of a battle and it would take me back to there I was.

Since the update, if I go to the home screen then go to my recent apps and click on it, it automatically loads as if I'd just opened the app. And if I was in the middle of a match it isn't there anymore.

Am I the only one with this problem? (I play during breaks at work and sometimes have to virtually pause in the middle of match..)

    This is happening to a lot of, if not all, players. There's a post in general discussion about it in hopes the devs see/respond to it sooner than they seem to in the bug forums.

    Confirmed. I can switch applications and it doesn't seem to have problems. If I leave it running in the background for a little while, it disappears.

    Put tablet into standby by closing the cover, which shut the app down completely when i opened the cover again to continue.

    This is not a good change.

    This has been happening to me for months now. When i emailed support about it i was told this:

    "When you play the game and switch in between other apps and programs or leave the app open in the background (such as when the device is in sleep mode or you receive a call), you divide the priority of processing among the programs, and the shortage causes the game to shut down due to the enhanced usage rate during matches. When the game shuts down, as an anti-cheat provision, any current battles are automatically retreated and your team incurs the consequences of a retreat; damaged health, loss, etc.

    Unfortunately, each device is different in how long it will allow the game to run in the background and there is little we can do except suggest that you complete your match and close the game before using other apps and programs."
  • Men a taxi driver ( Uber) this is really bad I'm losing matches like crazy because of that . I can't let clients wait while I finish the game . plz solve this devs .¡!!!!!!!!! Put it back the way it was . thks
  • If they do noting let's spam support so they know how this is important . this is a mobile game . most of play this because of its flexibility !! Don't let them take that away !!!

    Fix this.

    Roll back the update on whatever you did. I like having a sneaky battle at work in stages, but now it closes the game ! icon_cry.gif

    It closes down so quick at the moment! I've lost because my screen has gone off just going to the toilet! And *short* toilet, not long toilet!!!
  • I really hope this gets fixed soon. The game has become unplayable.
  • I lost two games that I was going to win in the emrakul event, because I locked my Android 7 device (nexus 6p) once for 10 minutes, the other for 10 SECONDS .

    This needs to be really high priority to fix because this bug makes this portable game, non portable.

    It's an extremely bad user experience that will easily drive me away from the game if I have to continue playing events with it.

    The devs acknowledged this issue today and said they're working on it. Check in general discussion for more info.
