Hello, everyone.

In order to bring you the 1.7.1 update we will be performing scheduled server maintenance tomorrow, October 19, 2016 at 2 PM UTC (10 AM EDT/7 AM PDT).

During the maintenance period the game will be unavailable. Downtime is expected to last approximately 4 hours.

Thank you.

    *Update (10/19/16):

    Hi everyone,

Looks like the devs were able to shift things around so no events should be affected by the maintenance. Apologies for a bit of a false alarm in yesterday's message.

    (10/18/16)

Unfortunately, due to the approval process (not completely under our control) we were unable to schedule maintenance for today (Tuesday). We realize the maintenance will affect the upcoming event and apologize for the inconvenience.

Because everyone should be affected by the downtime equally, no compensation is currently planned. However, if an extreme discrepancy occurs between mobile formats (which we do not expect) compensation will be offered to affected players.

    Thank you.

There currently aren't any events scheduled. Do you mean the one that's normally scheduled on Wednesday mornings but currently isn't appearing (Nodes of Power), or is it that Emrakul will start immediately after maintenance?

You realize that with the way tiebreakers work any delay for one OS over the other is an extreme disadvantage. In recent events 5 minutes start time is the difference between top 5 or not.

Will the event that is coming tomorrow be the new Emakrul's Corruption event, or a repeat of a previous event such as Nodes or Terrors?

I'm assuming(hoping) there's no event tomorrow since we have nothing to join in advance like we usually do.

Dropping events right after a patch/long maintenance never worked out so far.

Doesn't mean they won't do it. Look at what was written.

You tell me what's more likely, no event tomorrow or event tomorrow?

Remember Avacyn's Madness? Most thought they wouldn't start the first one middle of the week and guess what? They did.

I honestly didn't read the second post. Poor execution IMO. Just cancel all events on a day of a patch. How hard can that be?

    Devs,
If you start an event tomorrow then save us both a bunch of headaches and don't have it start as soon as maintenance completes. Give everyone a window after maintenance to update, get some cards from the new set and prepare. Also that way you can run the event for a number of hours that is evenly divisible by 4 so everyone has an equal number of plays. Really if you give some notice and run it in a way that is reasonably balanced for people who aren't checking the app every five minutes it will help cut down on the noise and complaints you'll get by quite a bit.

They really should run Nodes tomorrow and save the EM event for the weekend. This way any significant card bugs can be worked out.

Since the events usually starts at 1600 UTC, and that nodes refresh every 4 hours, if the maintenance ends after 1600 UTC then start the event at 2000 UTC and should the maintenance ends after 2000 then delay the event for another 4 hours.

Then why should they change it since it's not working so far? icon_lol.gif

This sentence may become true only if you swap "the weekend" with "the next year".

You're all being so negative! I'm sure everything will be fine.

    We were saying... "WHAT EVENT?"

Nice to see that the developers are at least beginning to catch on to our comments regarding events. Now about these nodes being fully charged at the onset of events...

I appreciate the communication, but I would like to point out that we have been getting events on Wednesdays so "no events should be affected by the maintenance" doesn't totally clear things up. Does your post mean that we will have no events until Saturday? Does it mean we'll have an event tomorrow that will end the following day in order to keep the Saturday scheduled event? If you'd post an event calendar, that would be very helpful.

I second the event calendar. Players can plan ahead a little and maximize their playing time. All for that.
  • This is not cool that android already has over 30 minutes of gameplay with the update before IOS. I'm currently in 1st for QB, but the guy in 2nd could be closing on me because the updates are not rolled out at the same time.
