Star-Lord buff vs Nova/Thing

Hi,

Need a bit of advise. I have a Star-Lord cover that expires in 2 days. With the buff he seems like he might be great support toon in 4* land and championing him can be a good move. At the same time I should get a Nova cover from the current PvP and be able to champ him as well with the Thing cover already in the queue (still 8 days to go) as the third option. What should I do?

I have 370k iso. Championing SL would take 320k (with championing). That would mean I have two weeks to get 290k for Nova as well. Seems very unlikely (21k per day is a not my play level I think). Not sure he would help me immediately as I don't have Kingpin champed and he shares colors with Deadpool (two that create a lot of friendly countdown tiles). I do have champed Ant-man (but a gain - a color share). He is team Cap so he is not synergysing with IM5* (my best covered 5*).

I haven't use Nova a lot as he remains underleveled (148) but I've heard great things about him. Not sure who I could team up him with to make the decision easier.

My line-up: i have 8 4* champed with all the best on the list (not counting Peggy). All my 3* are champed as well. None of my 5* is usable yet and I have been hoarding the LT and CP for a while (8 and 1k respectively) so I don't get dupe 4* covers.

Its hard to say with Starlord, at first look his rework seems an improvement and there's is that undeniable appeal of being "first" on what could be a new go to character. But you never know until people start stress testing it in the game. I like Thing and he's useful (see later on) but not as much as Nova.

I champed Nova recently and I've loved using him. Cheap powers to get strong strike tiles out and take people off the board for a few rounds (and nuking on the way back down) is a lot of fun. And when boosted he's probably the scariest 4* character outside of boosted Red Hulk. Basic idea is that any of his three powers gets out his black strike tiles, and once they're out, you can start flipping problem targets off the board, keeping them from firing powers or passive defense powers, for just 6 red ap. His yellow for 7ap does nice damage and adds strike tiles. I go with 5/5/3 for that reason. He's a good comparison to Iceman, same relatively cheap incapacitate/nuke abilities but instead of an AOE option, Nova offers much more constant, gradual damage each turn.

Given what you said about your roster and 5*'s, you wouldn't be able to do the combo I usually do him with, OML, but its something to think about for the future. OML tanks all his colors and the strike tiles adding to his regular match damage (or any 5* match damage) adds up quick. Add Iron Fist for that extra 2000-3000K from his attack tile (and he generates black for Nova).

Outside of OML in the 4* range, he works well with Iceman, with no color conflict in powers (other than iceman converting red to blue). Neither are big health tanks so maybe if you can choose their third, stick Thing in there with his yellow at 5 to take hits and spawn some defense tiles (when you eventually champ him). In 3* range, Kamala works good - no color conflict and since Nova is quick, lots of healing.

I've decided to champ S-L. He seems on paper like the fantastic support hero 4* tier needed. Worst case - he will be a great weapon in PvE whenever goons are involved. Now fingers crossed I can get the ISO to max Nova as well icon_e_smile.gif. I think it's doable as I am closing on next Clearance level and maybe I can sell one of the 2* from the farm in 2 weeks time. Worst case - I will have to pull through the tacos (300+90 saved). That way I might have the cake and eat it icon_e_wink.gif
