screenshot uploader process???

Last week I started having an alert on my system that a process called "screenshot uploader" was running. My IT guys have looked at my system and it seems to only run when I'm playing Puzzle Quest. It doesn't happen every time, but occasionally. My owner is okay with my being on Steam because of the rather lengthy conference calls. However, he is extremely concerned about confidential information getting to our competitors. Obviously, D3 isn't a competitor, but having a process by this name is a huge red flag.

Does anyone else have this process appearing? and what is it? Is it for me to upload screenshots? If so, where would I put them for people to see?

I can't find a file or service running by the same name. I'm a bit concerned and Steam pointed me to this forum. Any help would be appreciated.

Is Puzzle Quest the only Steam game you run on this system?

If I capture screenshot during a TF2 session, after closing the game, Steam will prompt me to select any screenshots taken for upload.

I believe this process could be integrated into Steam, but only runs once a game is run. Would you be able to install another game and test this?
  • I can try. I haven't because I need to pop out quickly at times. That's why I love the turn based aspect of this game. I'll download team fortress 2 and see. When I asked Steam, they pointed me here. It didn't seem like they were interested.

I'll reply tomorrow once I've gotten it installed and left it running a bit.

    Thank you!

Huh, interesting. I'd send in a support ticket to CS or PM IceIX about it just to make sure it's something they own and not something nefarious.

I suspect it might be anti-cheat measures.
  • I'm hoping it's not a monitoring of anything and just a way to upload screenshots. If it was anti-cheat, that would be nefarious and illegal. Taking random screenshots of someone's computer screen which could have passwords or other private information is illegal and constitutes hacking.

I hope D3 isn't doing that. They are smarter than that. I'm really looking for validation that it is a means to upload screenshots.

I tried team fortress 2 and didn't get the process to appear. Admittedly, I didn't have much time to test it and will more tomorrow while at work.
