Buffs to transforming creatures

Anyone else notice that if you have a creature and it's transformed state both on the board and the creature gets buffed, when it transforms and gets absorbed, the buffs do not stack with it?
Happening for me with daring sleuth and J2's ability. Had +18+18 on both sleuth and it's transformed bearer, but when sleuth transformed it only increased stats of bearer by +4+3
