I've been playing off and on for about three years now, and I am just now getting to the full 3* level. Any suggestions on what to do, who to dump iso into, what 4* I need to keep when opportunity arises...you know, just advice in general.

Also, maybe tell me what 'stage' of the game I am in?

Thank you in advance,

Saint.

I would say you are still 3* transitioner. Why - you don't have champed all the main support toons that thrive in the 4* game - Iron Fist, Scarlet Witch and IM40. Without them you won't be able to achieve great success in the 4* land.

You have 3 5* with one cover - that is a bit of a shame as they are not really usefull (outside of trivial nodes in PvE) and yet they are damaging your matchmaking and scaling. If you can still reach the max progression in PvE - fine. Otherwise consider selling them (would be a shame as all 3 are top of the class). Just try to resist the urge to open the LT and hoard CP as well. The extra 4* cover here and there is not helping you when you are still trying to round up the 3*.

Look for the above mentioned 3* and make sure you complete DDQ (that is a must anyway if you want to progress) and the PvE when they are rewarded. In PvP it might make sense to go for CL6 instead of CL7 to get an extra 3* cover from progression compared to semi-useful 4* cover if you can reach 900.

Of the 4* - Hulkbuster (when your IF is maxed) is a game changer. So is Iceman, Jean Grey, Red Hulk and apparently Peggy (one I don't have so with a grain of salt). If they are awarded in PvP at 900 - CL7 is the way. Still - you are rather far off from them being usable so champing more 3* makes more sense.

General advise - PvE is your main source of progression (next to DDQ) as your team is not strong enough to make a lot of noice in PvP. It takes time and patience, especially if you play casually and don't invest a lot of money. Since you are only starting to get to 4* focus on the 3* first. And consider farming the 2* (champing them and selling at max level to get extra rewards) as they give a bit of 3* as champions rewards.
  • So, essentially I should drop my 5*? I REALLY dont want to, dropping back down keeps costing me time, but if there if a consensus that I am being done more harm than good, okay.

I JUST pulled that BB, too...

It all depends how your gameplay looks. If you can get to max progression in PvE without too much of a hustle than I would keep the 5*- just don't level them and don't look for more (this is key until you have some 4* well developed or even champed). If it killing you - maybe try selling one by one (so sell one and see for an event or two if this was helpful).

In general I recommend to man up and live with the scaling - the 5* are so rare. But if you are struggling with long and difficult fights in PvE - it is most likely due to them (you have some 3* champed so it's not only the 5* that influence the sacaling anyway).

In terms of PvP - if you can't get to 800-900 points without spending thousands of HP on shields don't stress over it too much. Firstly ignore the CL7 (and maybe even CL6 but do some testing) and aim for placement to get some 3*. Secondly don't waste HP on shields if you are not getting the good rewards (by good I mean CP and 3-4* covers). If 400-500 is your max I would play in the last 4-5 hours of an event. Go hard, use all your heath packs and shield for 75HP till the end when you are done (I assume you will be withing the 3h window). That way you should be HP positive for PvP, with some 2 covers to farm, iso and some rewards from placement. Again - PvE (or the story mode if you like) and DDQ are your bread and butter.

I'm about 2 steps ahead of you (I've champed all of the 3*, but I still don't have a fully covered 4*, and the 12-cover ones I have are not top tier).

You aren't very far away from where the 5* won't impact your scaling at all for PVE; any event that has 3 boosted 3* that you have champed will level them higher than 255, so in those events you'll have no scaling issues.

Other than that, Magic's advice is spot-on. Your bread and butter is PVE and Deadpool. Play CL7 in PVE no matter what; even if you can't get max progression, getting 2 3* covers, 10 CP and a 4* will do wonders for your roster over time.

I don't think selling the 5*s will matter that much in scaling either. You already have a your first champed 3*s, and as abominatrix already pointed out, if they are boosted they will already measure up to the base level of 5*s.

For someone who's been playing as long as you, you don't have a lot of roster slots. Are you saving HP to spend on slots or are you buying daily deals or things like that? You really probably want to save up everything you can for slots. The game rewards you significantly for having as wide a roster as you can manage.

I wouldn't dump your 5*s. Yes, they're probably affecting your scaling a bit, but not a huge amount, if you have buffed 3*s. In events where you have nothing buffed, that can be a pain, but ultimately a person who plays sporadically doesn't lose out on much by skipping specifically events where he has nothing boosted.

Your roster is in a bit of an awkward spot, progression-wise, since your roster is so tight. You can keep spending Iso on the characters you have, while you farm hero power for more slots, or you can start hoarding. I think the conventional wisdom would be to start hoarding: you'll have to waste fewer covers for characters you don't have rostered, and once you do finish your 3* transition, you should have a lot of resources to bring up a 4* to a useful level.
