A few thoughts on Events.

Good afternoon!

So we're about 40% through the second Avacyn, and some thoughts:

1. Burn-Out. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm burnt out on events. We spent over a week of doubled up events because of Saheeli returning, and then have been going back to back since then. And before anyone says 'well, just take an event off', thanks to Coalitions, that's forcing everyone else to make up for your slack. I'm in a Top5 Coalition; we don't have the room to 'make up for it'. I work 40-50 hours a week, I go to school full time. One 5-node event for me is maybe 30 minutes, if I can dedicate it non stop. Something like Avacyn? 90 minutes. Some time off might be nice between events, even if it's just 24 hours.

2. Runes. With so many different Planeswalkers, Runes now are needed to level up. For those of us that don't purchase a lot of packs, the main option for runes comes from Quick Battles. At 300 a pop, you would still need 567 Quick Battles to have enough runes to level up a Dual-Color PW like Sorin or Kiora. With so many events going on, that takes away from the amount of QB that we can do. Nodes of Power usually takes longer than QB, and only rewards 100 runes per win. Avacyn rewards more depending on the encounter, but can take MUCH longer because of the health pools.

3. Rewards. In Nodes, I received three streams of rewards: Progression, Personal Competition, and Coalition Competition. This made it somewhat worth the investiture of time; you got a bunch of runes, a bunch of gems, and a few booster packs out of the progression (getting to the end of the arbitrary target score). Then you were getting a prize at the end, usually runes or gems, a card of some rarity, and some sort of pack, depending on your personal rank in your bracket. And then finally, your Coalition got gems, cards, and a specific card, again, depending on overall result. However, in Avacyn, there is no personal progression, making this event worth less overall. In the case of someone like me, my last run through Nodes got me two Mythics, one guaranteed from my Coalition, and one out of the pack that I got from personal. Now, they were the same Mythic and actually copies 4/5 of the same card, so I got nothing out of it, but when you remove the personal rewards, but increase the time and effort, that's less gain on your investment, making the competition less worth it.

So what does this have to do with Marvel Puzzle Quest?

Probably just a mispost meant to go in the MtGPQ forums. No need to get snarky about it.

I agree with all these things. Avacyn is really burning me out, there's 5 nodes and each one takes forever. It's hard enough having time available at the right time but with this even if I am available I don't have time to clear everything. And it is a "coallition event" not by having added anything, but purely by way of having removed the individual progress rewards.

Runes I have the same problem but honestly I'm not sure whether I actually think they should fix it, they want to have some motivation for people to spend and also I'm sure I'll eventually have too many runes and nothing to spend them on anyway. They should fix the lack of unlimited rune-sink first.
