Westvale Abbey is not blocking when possessing defender. Also noted the card not attacking. The card text does not say it cannot attack/ block. Anyone experiencing this issue?

I was just about to make a post about Westvale when I saw this one.
I'm pretty sure it is bugged. I've put defender and vigilance on it and the AI creatures will not ram into it. I've given attack and first strike and that creature wont attack.
Furthermore, Westvale Abbey never gets targeted by AI spells, it has hidden hex.
  • Ugh, that's too bad. I was looking forward to play with it on Gideon, Battleforged. Please fix this issue, devs!
  • Came here looking to verify if anyone else has been experiencing this issue as well. There is nothing indicating that Westvale Abbey can not defend regardless of it's state, yet as soon as it comes out, it acts as if it's disabled (blue haze/fog on it) until it's transformed.

Even when given Vigilance, Reach, or anything else that would cause *ANY* other creature to start blocking the opponent creatures, it still retains that haze of disabled.

I thought that it may have something to do with the fact that it's a 0/X creature, thus effecting it's ability to be considered into the mix for defending/attacking, however even if you give it a stat buff, whether permanent or temporary, it still will not do anything.

The major caveat to this, however, is when I first got the card, it was able to block if given Vigilance until the first event ended. Once the event ended and they had their quick 5 minute maintenance, then it started getting that "Disabled Haze" on it until being transformed.

This really makes it much harder to use now, since you either have to target it yourself with damage abilities/spells, or do the endless match for a cleric, then kill the cleric X5 to get it to transform and finally be useful.

Exact wording on card states nothing about being disabled, or not being able to attack/defend. On front of card, it shows a transform (Sun) ability, with 0/35. "Creature - Construct. At the beginning of your turn, if this creature has 10 or less Toughness, this creature Transforms. When a Human you control dies this creature gets 0/-5. Activate 3: Summon 1 1/1 Black and White Human Cleric token."

Once flipped, it then shows Flying, Lifelink, Haste and Transform (Moon) abilities with 15/13. It also shows it then being a "Creature - Demon" however, there is no other information on the card.

With all that's being shown on the card, I do not understand why this card gets the yellowish "X", signifying that it cannot attack (like the Bonded Construct gets when there is no other friendly creatures on the battlefield)

Yes, it almost seems silly to use a 0/whatever creature to defend, or attack for that matter, and I could understand it being disabled when it is still at a 0/whatever status, once you buff it even to a 1/whatever, it should then be able to at least defend via vigilance/reach whatever.

Either this needs to be fixed, or if this is currently working as intended, then the wording on the card must be amended to state that it is disabled, or cannot attack or defend until transformed.
