Can't get past tutorial

I got a friend to start playing this game. He plays on a Note 3 and he can't get past the tutorial. My friend is unable to make the first match against Ultron as everything is frozen. The 3-way yellow tiles that the game wants you to match still flashes, but he is unable to swipe or or even pause the game. He can't back out of the game either.

He has reinstalled twice, cleared cache, cleared data, and rebooted phone. Problem persists.
