Who would like to see classic planeswalkers?

Just an informal poll out of curiosity and what the heck, maybe.
How many of us, especially the veteran paper magic players, would like to see some classic/legendary planeswalkers?
Urza, freyalise, tevesh szat, leshrac, teferi, to name just a few.
Might be a bit much, but maybe have these walkers be the first three-color planeswalkers. Mitigate the inherent advantage of having a larger card pool by restricting their mana gains to +1 in their three primaries and -1 to their other two. Or something like that. Triple XP needed for leveling, same principle as the dual colors we have now. Have them cost around 1200-1500 crystals.
Reply with a yay or nay and who you'd like to see! Maybe kick around some ideas for abilities, color devotion, etc.
I'd like to see Karn. Colorless planeswalker, sold. That would be cool.

Makes more sense to follow the paper MtG releases IMO. Out of the planeswalkers you listed, only Freyalise and Teferi have had a paper card released and they were both mono colored.

Only three triple-colored planeswalkers have been released in paper MtG. Though one of them is in Eldritch Moon, so it will be interesting to see if they release him as 3 color in this game.

    Tamiyo is female.

I would love to see Nicol Bolas. Color combo and theme. I heard he may be coming back in a set soon, so he may show up anyways... icon_e_biggrin.gifDD

Indeed. The next block after Kaladesh is his home base.
  • nicol bolas 1st came out as an elder dragon in legend set, allready beeing 3 color, but there was all combinaison of 3 colored elder dragon (don't remember them all but i know nicol bolas wasn't my favorite back then) ...
If they decide to make more 3 colors PW i think taking some allready existant characters like those may be nice.
I like your idea about beeing able to choose some classic characters (they weren't called PW yet iirc) but in the end it'll depends on which choice Wotc will make for paper mtg.

Actually, Nicol Bolas is a brilliant idea! Perfect first tri-color planeswalker.
Honestly, a colorless or tri-color is inevitable anyway. Eventually they'll need to for the sake of keeping players interested or revitalizing the game. Might be quite a while though. Before that though, they'll probably round out the field in dual-color pw's first. I'm anxious to see who the black/green, blue/white, red/green, etc. end up being. Thats one reason I think classics like Urza would work well. Blue/white for him, I think. Freyalise, green/white. Tevesh szat, blue/black. So on.

If you want more new dual-colored planeswalkers. And expect the PQ game to follow the paper planeswalker cards, then here are your current options for new color combinations:

    black/green - Garruk(2), Vraska - 2014
    blue/black - Ashiok, Tezzeret - 2013
    green/white - Ajani - -2014
    red/green - Arlinn(2), Domri, Sarkhan, Xenagos - 2016
    white/blue - Dovin, Narset, Venser - 2015, 2016(Kaladesh)

    - (X) means more then one dual color paper version.
    - Year is the most recent in which a PW of that color mix was released in some set.

Of course, MtP PQ is not bound by any time limits in releasing new PW's. As demonstrated by Sarkhan the Mad who was released in paper in 2010.

Looking at the recent PW release list more, I wouldn't be surprised if the devs are disappointed with many of the options. Including Origins there have been 25 PW's released since then including Kaladesh. 12 of those PW are already in the PQ game. 7 are different new mono-colored versions of Nissa/Chandra/Liliana that aren't in PQ yet. 2 are from the draft Conspiracy MtG sets that PQ may or may not want to even touch. That leaves us 4 remaining PW's in which there are two versions of red/green Arlinn, a three color Tamiyo, and a white/blue Dorin Baan from Kaladesh.

Red/Green seems like the most obvious candidate for a new PW, seeing there are two different versions of Arlinn in Shadows over Innistrad. And all of the other PW's in SoI have been released in the game now--Sorin, Nahiri, and now the new Jace. Maybe some concern or delay by the devs due to the fact that the most recently broken cards have been in green and red. If they think the cascade looping issues have been fixed I wouldn't be surprised to see a red/green Arlinn as the next new premium PW for sale.

An angel-centric planeswalker like Serra would be really cool.

Would love me a Karn that can create A LOT of void gems and make use of them.

Nay. Those planeswalkers are dead. Doesnt make much sense to bring them back to life.
