PVP Points for wins lower than shown

First, I'm well aware that the points shown can change, both up or down, but in Fist Bump I've seen some that are hard to explain.

I just won a battle that said it was worth 50 points, and after the battle I got 20. I had just got the matchup, it hadn't been sitting in my queue for a while. I've had 2 or 3 similar matches this event.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something? It doesn't seem possible that my opponent could lose that many battles in the 3 minutes it took to fight him that would take him from 50 to 20 points.

Anyone in the shard could target and hit someone in those 3 minutes. This is the crux of the PVP issue, that you can only fight one battle at a time, but your team can lose hundreds of battles on your behalf

You have to factor in that when you queued him, that score was already probably not even in sync with his "true points value". The servers don't update the scores often enough and losing hundred of points in a matter of minutes is a pretty common occurence. As soon as you reach that magic number when everyone can hit you, better shield up or you're going down.

Also, "supposed to lose less points" seems like pretty much a lie. Was at 997, someone at 561 hit me, shield said it saved 63 pts.
How is that less points, seems exactly like before icon_evil.gif

How many times had you skipped to find this q?

If you're not skipping, you should know that your q holds a certain backlog.

If you aren't skipping through it, it's not fresh.

Also, some players intentionally dump 100s of points, for a variety of reasons. It's important to recognize player names and get to know their play styles.

I think I had just skipped 3 or 4 times before I found the target, then attacked him right away.

Server lag seems like the best explanation. That target probably wasn't really worth 50 points when I started the fight.

How many points would someone have to lose to drop from a 50 to 20 point target?

By ELO 561 vs 997 should be 69 points lost.

Before this update, you'd have lost 69 * 997/1000, so still losing 69, once rounding.

    Now you lost 69*997/1100 = 62.53 = 63pts loss.

300, plus or minus 20 or so. Don't feel like pulling out the exact range.

The cache is about 6 skips in. If you want updated numbers, you'd need to skip or beat at least 6 people in your queue currently.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I had no idea there was a deeper skip queue than the 3 shown. From a developer standpoint, it makes sense. It allows the player to skip without checking in with the server.

I just did a quick test to confirm this. I put my phone in airplane mode, then went into the game and was able to skip 3 times before the game told me "Comm Link Disrupted".

    Good to know!
