Alliance Rewards

I haven't seen anyone posting a thread thanking the devs for getting something changed quickly and for the better, so I thought I would do it.

Everybody must have looked at the alliance rewards for simulator by now. Different prizes for 1-2, 3-10, 11-25, 26-50, etc. No more, 1st place, 2-50, etc.

Kudos, guys, excellent quick fix!

Of course it could be that these are just the PVE schedule, while the PVP schedule remains the same, though I hope not.

  • Um, nooo, they don't even give Hero Points past the rank of 50.

We're also giving out Alliance Rewards per each Sub-Event in this one too. This Sim Challenge is currently slated to give out more HP in total than any Event thus far excepting the first couple PVE Events when HP were on every pin.

I stand corrected. That's good to know, I should probably focus on winning instead of playing around with Daredevil's crotch kicks.
  • I'm in the camp who thinks 2-50 placement was much better than the "improved" version.

I definitely would not dump those changes on the game before 1/ doing many improvements around alliances and mire importantly 2/ until the "size rulez" problem was addressed in some sensible way.

Current system is just raw sum of people scores so put the whole table in the p2w category, shelling out the 20k create the massive advantage over those who only shelled out 10k or 5k.

The wider ranges at least allowed more mixing and less unnatural contention over the border.

The only bright side is that the difference in prizes is not so much different. and that the most important prize, the blue cover is offered to a really big range, hopefully reaching well in the area with 5-member alliances.

um a 5 person alliance should be able to place top 250 and get a cover pretty easily. not sure what the issue is O.o
  • Yeah, I'm more excited about prize separation than what the prizes really are. I love the competition (in a fun way), and it's nice to see a meaningful reason to compete, even if it were just for a few ISO.
  • I need to join an alliance.

I have lots of covers and have about 4 at 85 and 10 or so just below. And then a bunch staggering down to a level 1 belova.

Yeah, but you don't have a Psylocke. icon_e_wink.gif

    Well played sir, well played!
  • Putting the top prize at a 1-2 placement I definitely feel is much more exciting.
Will definitely get more competition between alliance for a second place.

I'm happy with the structure now. 2-50 was ridiculous and anyone finishing our of the top 10 should have felt dirty accepting the same prize as the 2-5 guys.

I liked 2-50. I feel there could be extreme drama in the alliances who finish 11-14 about who didn't pull their weight.
  • As long as the alliance greatly favors larger alliances I don't see why one reward structure is any better than any other reward structure. At least the PvE rewards makes slightly more sense because you can in theory build up a significant point advantage over the duration of the event that is impossible in PvP. That is, suppose a guy joined halfway throughout the tournament, he'd be lucky to finish with half the points of someone high up in placement. In PvP, it's pretty trivial to pull 500 points in the last 3 hours which would pretty much match half of the score of the highest player.

Don't know why you bother mentioning the alliance rewards, when they're only for whales, thanks to being unbracketed in the subs and the cash-grab of making alliances expandable to 20 with cash...
  • I really can't give thanks when the Alliance rewards and this tournament are making me question throwing in the towel on the game altogether after a good run in the Fat Thor tournament. I was #1 in Easy and top 10 in Hard for most of the day and just stopped playing until I can decide whether I want to continue. I'm pretty sure I can take top ten individually but do I really want to do a week long grind this time just to know the same or likely appreciably less effort from someone in a 20 person Alliance is netting them THOUSANDS more ISO (high finish in every sub could be 30? 40? more K by the end of the event?)and at least one Steve Rogers cover that isn't available unless you're in an Alliance?

I'm not opposed to joining an Alliance, quite the opposite. But all the top tier Alliances are formed, to get near the top of the Alliance rewards you have to be in a 20 person Alliance that is obvious from the leaderboards already. I could blindly try to find a small alliance that may, if we're lucky, finish high enough to make it figuratively worth more than the 70 ISO you get by winning one battle in a PvP event. Best case after a few weeks/events maybe that Alliance will get enough HP's to buy enough slots and get enough competitive players to be in the running. Of course by then the top tier Alliances today will be many thousands of ISO/levels ahead along with a handful of covers I wasn't able to obtain so it will be playing catchup forever.

The top N percent of players in the very top Alliances benefited from these changes. Meanwhile for the first time a huge amount of players will be locked out of being able to even aquire a cover of a new hero. A new hero that will be required or at least powered up the next mission leaving all those folks at an immediate disadvantage. So yeah can't really thank D3 for that.

Oh, a guy from a alliance that has Top10 subscribed is glad about the new reward structure, what a surprise. As far as i see it, the overall rewards have been greatly reduced. Instead of the Top50 only the Top10 get 100HP. The other 40 get vastly reduced rewards. How is this good or an improvement?

And as noted in the main thread, the sub event alliance rewards seem fishy too. Sure they are decent, but they only cover the Top100. The brackets seem to be much larger. So most alliances actually get no price from the sub events at all.
  • I really don't get these alliance haters, there's a whole board full of alliances crying out for members. It's not difficult to join a reasonably sized Alliance. Although as with most internet boards, some people prefer to go on hating

A reasonably sized alliance would be 5. (It would be more, if and only if more members wasn't a pay to win feature.) Since alliances were introduced with a limit of 5 members, it only makes sense that people should have been able to make alliances of 5 highly active players [with solid rosters] and expect to have a shot at alliance prizes.

If your roster is good it's not that hard to find an alliance that is aiming for the star(s Spangled Avenger). We have a pretty decent sister Alliance as a training area AND wainting area for when a slot opens up in the main alliance. It all depends on playing activity and roster, but that can be said of the game in a whole too, so I dont see a problem at all.
