A bit stuck here! - Champion levels and scaling

Hi all,

Think I've made a foolish decision to champion 2* Thor too early.

Check my current roster: https://mpq.gamependium.com/rosters/Clownstyle/

I'm a pretty new player, so these forums have been a big help. I did some reading about scaling, which I think I may be affected by now. Basically I can start a PVE event (like the current ISO-8 Brotherhood) and hit up the nodes 4/6 times with a view to complete the last x2 closer to the end of the event (for max points?) but I can't even complete the final x2 matchups for each node. In fact, some of them I can't even do 4/6.

Funny feeling here, but I think it may be because I've championed Thor (I've been lucky with covers for him) My go-to team is normally Thor/OBW/Random - However the game just feels like its got incredibly difficult. I've read that people have "level caps" which they will stick to, 94 for example before adding any champion levels.. FYI my Thor is at level 98

Should I cap my other covers at 94 or champion those as well? Have I wrecked my scaling to the point of no return by championing Thor? Looking at my roster what should I aim to do next? Will tanking help? ... and where should I cap my players for a more pleasent scaling experience?

Other newbie questions include:
What are slices, and how can I maximise my chances of placing higher in events with my current setup (Please don't say sell Thor!)

Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading your replies icon_e_smile.gif

I don't think a 2* player is supposed to be able to clear all PvE nodes all the time. Your roster looks pretty good to me, actually. It's good that you have all the two-stars rostered, work on getting them all up and running, then you can maybe even start some duplicates to sell off for extra rewards eventually. Champ them when you can, the fewer covers you waste the better. icon_e_smile.gif Thor and OBW is an excellent two-star duo too, so you seem to be doing well in that regard too.
Keep in mind that the new SHIELD clearance level system is supposed to launch next weekend, with that you may be able to get rewards better adjusted to your roster.

Slices is basically just the different end times in an event - the earliest end time is slice 1 and the last is slice 5.

No, you haven't made a mistake when championing your Thor go ahead and champion other 2* characters too. It's normal that at first you can not beat all the nodes it was same with my roster too back in the 2015 (or maybe 2014). Just progress your roster and it will become easier but don't level anyone yet beyond 2* max champion level (144)

Slices are the 6 time zone choices you get to choose from the very first time you start each story mode. You can maximize your performance with trying to join different slices and different times until you find a good one for you. And no, do not sell Thor icon_e_smile.gif

No, you're good. Scaling works in ranges, not specific levels. So having a character 15 levels higher than the rest isn't going to affect it. Scaling only gets really screwy if you drop a 5* into the mix, which start at 255. Like everyone else is saying, don't worry too much about not being able to get 6/6 clears on PvE nodes. 4/6 nets you the bulk of the points and the best rewards anyway.
  • Thanks for your replies guys. Has put my mind at rest somewhat, being that I haven't screwed myself over.

One more question if I may icon_e_smile.gif

I've heard that lightning rounds are good for farming 2* covers - Is there any rhyme or reason as to when they start? Or are they totally random? Hoping to catch seed teams but keep missing out

Thanks again for your help icon_e_smile.gif

They run between noon (central) on Tuesday and noon (central) Thursday. They start up every 2 hours. They are 1.5 hours long with a half hour break between them. I suggest clicking on the preview rewards option during that 30 minute window and then start as soon as you can. That gives you the best chance to get a full set of seed teams for easy ISO and potentially covers.
