LR help?

So instead of using it for tanking as usual, I figured my Frank is lvl 90...I'll make a go of it in the Punisher LR. I was doing decent (using Frank, Spidey, and Hulk all boosted well into the 100s) and ranked around 25 at the last 15 mins or so. Then an enormous beatdown came at me from everywhere and I finished ranked in the 200s.

What could I have done to give myself a chance to place somewhat highly in one of these things? (Besides magic up a high-lvl Patch...)

I think your two main options are:

-Tank your mmr to the point where the higher levels can't see you anymore
    -Shield aggressively

Unfortunately, LRs are incredibly competitive, a level 90 team with a bunch of point is essentially a free meal for all the folk with multiple 141s. =(
  • Lrs are essentially unbracketed, without multiple boosted lvl 141s, your gonna get eaten alive.
If you tank your mmr down and keep going through the whole 90mins, you might have a shot.
Better to do it in one of those two day events tho, less stressful.

The thing about Lightning Round is that it may seem to you that you have a team good enough to fight for the top, because your characters are somewhere around 80-90 in level. Sadly, during LR those are cannon fodder. Unless you own a few buffed characters above level 100, you're gonna gave a real struggle going anywhere near the top. There is a huge paradox here, since a player with a 3x141 lv team doesn't need the Lightning Round rewards anymore.

Just what I was thinking... you can't place well unless your guys are maxed, but the reason for me wanting to place is to help max my guys... icon_neutral.gif *sigh*
  • Top players go for the aprox. 5000 iso you get during the tournament. On the other hand side you get during "Heroes LR" Courage tokens in case you haven't maxed all of your 3* guys. Good reasons to play even tough your main team is maxed out.
  • I find that playing the villain LR is a lot more rewarding than the hero LR with my roster.

The big goal for me is to get within the range for a Heroic pack, if not a Villains pack that guarantees me a *** villain cover.

With my roster (maxed **s, 40s-50s Magneto, Hood, Ragnarok), there's no way I regularly place in the cover range. Getting within the top 26-100, though, is much more achievable depending on how well the required villain meshes with my lineup so that I have a meat shield to eat the damage if I use the free version or if my buffed copy will let me unleash havoc.

Example - Ragnarok plus Daken and OBW will mess you up, as each green you hit creates a strike tile thanks to Daken's ability, Ragnarok's red lets you create green tiles, OBW's espionage lets you do considerable damage with those strike tiles, and OBW's purple ability lets you steal reds and greens to keep Ragnarok fueled.

Create a bunch of strike tiles, start firing off Godlike Power, and the opponents start dropping like flies unless they're 141s across the board.
  • Is there an LR guide somewhere on the forum? I've never even managed to place top 100 in this event. I usually just play to get the first three progression rewards which is nice and all but I'd like to get more 3* covers since I'm trying to move on from my 2* team.
