Who should I recruit

Hello,

I always have the issue that I finally end up having a character I wanted or have space to recruit someone but too many different covers to choose from. Right now I got enough coins for a new spot and about 20 covers I can recruit. I will gave a short summary of what my personal opinion is on the characters so feel free to tell me if I'm underestimating a character.

Here's my current roster: https://mpq.gamependium.com/rosters/TobiBlackmore/

New covers to recruit:
2x She-Hulk ( redflag.pngblueflag.png ) Seems like an okay character but I'm not sure if she's worth it.
2x Gamora ( redflag.pngblackflag.png ) Her red power is weak, but then again, also cheap. Her green power is one I really like and her black power seems to be situational, as in, Gamora needs to either be the only one still standing or the strongest of my team.
1x Miles Morales ( purpleflag.png ) Seems pretty useless since I CURRENTLY don't own a web tile using character but other than that would be a nice addition.
1x Daken 3* ( purpleflag.png ) Pretty much the only difference between him and Daken 2* is that he can get stronger if I get the covers and gets 2 strike tiles when making a green match. I feel like recruiting him anyway just to do the deadpool daily.
1x Magneto 3* ( yellowflag.png ) I've been putting him off for a while but since I got Magneto 2* it seems like I could get covers easily for him. He seems okay.
4x Black Widow 2* (2x blueflag.png 1x purpleflag.png 1x blackflag.png ) Underestimated her until I fought her in PvP a few times. I also could use the extra Black Widow 3* I would eventually get.
3x Hawkeye 2* (2x purpleflag.png 1x redflag.png ) Honestly I would just recruit him to combine with Magneto 2* for the speed shots.
1x Bullseye 3* ( purpleflag.png ) Just seems like a waste to level up Bullseye 2* and throw these away but I it just seems like a bad character to me.
1x The Hood ( blueflag.png ) Seems like a bad character to me.
1x Squirrel Girl ( purpleflag.png ) Seems okay to me but I'm not sure if she deserves priority.
1x Steve Rogers 2* ( blueflag.png ) I would just level him for the 3* covers then throw him out.

Thanks in advance!

I'd probably go with OBW. You are still in the two-star transition (OML notwithstanding), and OBW is probably the best single two-star there is in the game.
  • Wouldn't it be a waste to throw away the 3 or 4 star covers?

Ideally you want to roster everyone, but unless you want to buy a lot of Hero Points it's just not feasible to roster so many characters. Recruiting a Three- or fourstar with only a handful of covers isn't going to help you right now, but getting OBW up and running is going to help a lot.

If you have just one spot, definitely OBW. As Quebbster said, she will help a lot!

I've been where you're now, at that time I choose to sell a few 4* with just 1 cover luckily got from tokens to roster the relevant 3*. Having most of them, you'll be able to complete DDQ and earn one extra cover plus 3500 ISO. Eventually, you'll get more covers for them from events too. It's a matter of time to use your 3* more than your 2*. Well, this is only my experience but give it some thought.

    For the covers you have:
    - She-Hulk and Squirrel Girl are ok, not great.
    - Gamora is a good character, she can help after upgrading her powers and when she's boosted. Her red is too cheap for the damage.
    - 3* Magneto is pretty strong, his red can do a lot of damage and you can combine with 2* Captain Marvel to increase his blue damage.
    - I thought the same about The Hood before fighting him, it's too annoying. He can steal ap from all colors, you can combine with others that use countdown tiles like IM40, Captain America, Black Panther and others, and his yellow is a good board cleaning + damage dealer.
    - 3* Daken is what you've said.
    - 2* Hawkeye is great combined with 2* Magneto or other that can create tiles.
    - 2* Captain America is ok, several others in 2* land are better, but you can grab the 3* covers from champion rewards. Personally, just use when he's boosted or essential.

    Hope I helped

Another thing to add: If you don't want to have to sell covers but have trouble affording roster slots, it's probably a good idea to stop opening tokens until you have enough HP for a new roster spot. Then, open tokens until you get a new character. Rinse and repeat.
  • Alright I'll listen to your advice and start training up OBW.

Personally I felt like dipoing into 3* wasn't a bad idea since it gives me at least a second taco token and lately I've been able to do the deadpool mission succesully to get a new 3* cover for that character. And I felt like I had plenty of 2* characters so I wouldn't need more. Is the next step after OBW to get another 2* then?

@Quebbster: I was thinking of that but at the same time want more covers for characters I already have so I'm not sure if it's worth saving up if I can also sell the unwanted cover or use it for upgrades.

depends on how long you think you'll stick around. short term benefit wastes stuff in the long-term picture sometimes (i.e. opening tokens and selling characters you don't have room for that would benefit you later on). playing things for the long term is many times painful (well, not really painful, but just has disadvantages) in the short term, but you'll see those benefits down the road. play however you want, but just keep that in mind. I've hoarded several different levels of tokens several times for various reasons and it always seemed to work out well in the end.

I wouldn't recruit any more 2 stars after OBW. Just level up the ones you already have covered while you work on getting your 3 stars ready. Once you have a few 3 stars usable, you won't be using the 2 stars much anymore. You can add them later when you have the slots if you want.
Open event tokens and heroics if you want, but not legendary tokens.
  • Alright I'll try to stay away from those for now. Generally I've been lucky with them because they've given me existing covers rather than new ones.

Just wondering though, is keeping event tokens or taco tokens worth it? As in, do they matter once the event ends? After a day or two the event stops and the vault or whatever disappears. Does the vault stay if you still have a token, does it disappear as well or do you have to wait before the event occurs again?

The vault becomes inactive, which basically means that you get random pulls from them. The next time the event runs (with a vault) you can redeem the old tokens in the new vault though.

So it can actually be very beneficial to hoard your vault tokens and use more of them at once when a vault has characters you really want. Especially with the taco tokens, cause you can collect a lot of them by steadily doing DDQ.
  • I am currently playing daily and do at LEAST the DDQ and do as much as I can.

I currently am halfway training OBW and will have to wait for more covers to appear. In the meantime I will keep my legendary tokens in the back until I at least have room for another recruit.
