Roster Management in 3* Land

Hey all, long time lurker that finally made an account, here. I've been slowly making headway championing 3*s (and finally have all but Doc Ock rostered), and slowly collecting 4*s as I've been able. I recently stumbled on my first decent 5* in Yellow Green Goblin and am tempted to keep him, unlike the Silver Surfer I ditched back before champions were a thing and the scaling was rougher.
Here's my roster: https://mpq.gamependium.com/rosters/Ezrius/
I guess my general questions are:
1) Is it right to keep Osborn where he's one of the strongest 5*s and I have several 3* champs now?
2) Do I hold on to Howard or cut bait? Devil Dinosaur has enough covers that it feels wasteful to cut, but Howard's at 2.
3) I intend to drop my maxed 2* Storm and Mags once I re-cover the copies, and intend to do that with Hawkeye, too (this is mainly to help me cover 3* Storm, Mags, and IM40 as well as the other rewards). Past that, should I be holding all these 2*s? I'm tempted to cut Daken and Thor once I need room for another 4*, because I rarely use them unless they're essential in a PvE since I have their 3* versions.
4) I'm in a nice alliance, where the people seem cool and mostly everyone plays daily. It's quiet though, and last time the Civil War event came around I was somehow the top scorer (despite feeling my progression level is just okay). Should I stick with them where they're active and I'm pretty casual, or look for something else? I don't know any of them IRL.
5) I guess just am I doing alright in general? I've mostly been F2P outside of one guilty birthday present to myself
Thanks

Definitely keep Osborn. I would keep Howard, but that is up to you. Depends on whether you want to eventually (very) cover him. Selling championed 2 stars is perfectly okay and will help you get the iso to champion the 3 stars. Switch alliances if alliance placement rewards are important to you, but a casual one is more stress free.0

1. Yeah, keep Osborn. He shouldn't screw your scaling too bad and 5*s are hard to come by. Unless you're hitting 1300 in pvp on a regular basis those suckers are few and far between.
2. Personally I'd keep every 4*. Rare as it is they are sometimes required for PvE and even just having extra covers gives you an edge in PvP. But I can't really fault people for cutting Duck and Dino. Their cover availability is few and far between and Duck is more annoying than useful, while Dino is just meh across the board.
3. Once a 2* hits 144, unless they're your go-to for the daily, it's better to sell them. Either use the ISO to pull up a different 2* and start the champ process over or dump it into a 3-4*. Personally I keep one slot in my roster dedicated to cycling out for 2* PvE requirements. Most of the time you can see the required coming and just save it from random pulls, or worst case grind the other nodes till you hit the progression reward that gives you the 2*.
4. That's a harder one to answer. If you're scoring considerably higher than the rest of your alliance you might want to consider stepping up to a higher grade. But with power comes responsibility, as the better ones have minimum scores they expect you to hit, plus getting dedicated chat aps like Line to communicate and coordinate. If you're looking for better rewards might want to poke around the alliance board and see who's recruiting. Be sure to know what kind of scores you pull in (do you hit all progression rewards in PvE? What's your average for PvP?) so you can find a group that fits your playstyle. General rule of thumb though, if you're consistently your alliance's top scorer by a wide margin, it might be time to step up to a new team.0 -
Thanks for the responses.
For 2*s, I've started doing what Zyrook was suggesting. In fact, I completely forgot that Astonishing Wolverine was on my roster, but he was only there for the current event, and I'll probably cycle in Cap for the next one.
With regards to #4, I think I'm not really describing why I was considering a change. I don't care much about where my alliance places in PvP or standard PvE events. I only go hard after very specific covers, myself. What I was talking about was Civil War, and events like it (I can think of Avengers vs Ultron and Galactus Hungers). These events don't really have placement rewards so much as Alliance Progress Rewards. The last one that was run, I ended up the largest contributor, with a couple others not overly far behind and then a significant drop off. I don't need to be in a top 100 alliance or anything, I'm just a bit bummed the alliance I'm in can't pull off the higher progression rewards in the types of special events I just described.
I could be wrong, but I don't think those events scale for newer players, so it's less about effort and more about the fact that, say, folks in 2* land or just beginning the 3* transition can't really contribute past the first couple rounds...0
