Should I be hoarding all tokens that get new covers, or are there some that need to be spent before they expire?

Tokens, whether they are Standard, Heroic, Event, Legendary, or any other type of tokens, do not expire.

Save them to your heart's content! If you are a newer player, you should hoard Legendary tokens anyway.

I'd be careful early on about opening tokens that might give a character you don't have unless you have access to hp to roster someone new. at this point in the game it is very beneficial to buy some hp to roster all the 3* characters. that allows you to keep opening tokens and advance what you can do. otherwise, you're stuck either 1) opening tokens and making hard decisions on who to keep and who to sell or 2) hoarding tokens for extended lengths of time that have covers that would benefit you. neither of those options are great, but many have made that call. I spent and now almost 2 years in, I'd spend for slots again. but you have to stick with the game a while for that to really be worth it.

Tx - how much did you have to spend to get all the 3*s in? I got about half of them by now, but the rest would cost me about 100$. Bit much...

day 628, so they were still releasing 3s when I started and it was nowhere near full. when I hit that point it was about $60 to roster them all. so $100 now sounds about right. can certainly be done without spending. but the game forces you into some **** decisions along the way.

Yes, I have spent $40 on HP, $10 on VIP, and $20 on ISO. I don't see myself spending anymore for a while unless there's a significant sale, but I may keep VIP if I feel it is worth it in the end. I'm on day 92 now and have pretty much noobed it up on my own without visiting the forums for advice until now. Better late than never.

I imagine most veterans bought HP at some point or another that helped increase their roster size. You used to be able to specific covers for a character using HP if you already had at least one cover of that color, so many vets used to spend a lot of $ on HP and max cover a character quickly, while also gaining character slots with all that HP. That changed some time ago and now HP is basically used for shielding, roster slots and buying of 40-packs (mostly by whales).

There are several replies in this thread that indicate spending on HP for roster slots is helpful. I did that myself, but it's beneficial to wait. There are semi-regular "sales" where you get 30% more HP for a purchase. There are also buy clubs. A 1-off purchase to roster a desired character is better than letting it go, but if you're planning for a big spend do some research. Your money will stretch much further with timing and collaboration.
