I haven't had a game last enough where I could reinforce a creature that many times. She's fast as all get-out.

koth and kiora needs lots of cards to generate 80+ power...

Does her third ability give haste to cards in hand? The haste portion still seems an awkward mechanic for her skills.

Can you post screens of maxed abilities?

i think it simply reinforces one creature on the battlefield 4 times

True, but all you have to do is win the game. Anything else is just gravy.

True, but this is for one turn only. I can kill an opponent at 80 life with one use of Sarkhan's third skill and it's only rank 2 (dragons deal 2x their damage before attacking). At rank 4 I will be able to easily kill an opponent at 100+ life with one use of the skill. Yeah, you need Mythic dragons to do it, but it is possible, yet no one complains.

the reinforcement stays on the board, not one turn...

    Wait what?!?
Okay, I take my words back.
In paper magic it's until the end of the turn. I don't know why I assumed it is the same here.

lol exactly... my interpretation of the skill description was that it puts the first creature from the deck to the battlefield and reinforces it 3 more times along with added haste and trample... in reality u need a creature on the battlefield first; and the skill simply reinforces it 4 times with added haste and trample...
it costs 15 loyalties. because her mana gain of red+4, green+1, white+4, black-1, blue0, she can pull out big creatures fast...
  • The description of her lvl 3 ability from the patch notes is:

"Harbinger: Give a creature you control Haste and Trample until the end of your turn. That creature is also reinforced once (up to 4 times at rank 4) until the end of your turn."

So, is it not working the way they intended it to, or is the patch notes description in error?

The ability just isn't working as described.

First, to activate it you have to have a creature in play. Then, it reinforces it, and it remains reinforced forever, rather than dissipating at the end of the turn.

So yeah, surely that will get fixed.

edit: to clarify, this is what the ability says in game:

"Put the next creature from your library on the battlefield. It gains haste, trample, then reinforce it [X times]. At the end of your turn, it is returned to a random position in your library."

It's not, though, nothing is returned. It's just reinforced, and it can't grab the next creature from your library.

This is more like the paper Magic variant of the card. But it's still not what they said it will be in the patch notes. Do they not know what they're doing? And do they ever test their stuff? I work as a QA in a game company that makes AAA games. I can give them some tips if they want.

Nahiri currently has a bug that doesn't remove the reinforced stacks at the end of the turn. We will investigate this, as this is really not working as intended!

JC, can you tell us which of the following is supposed to happen?

1 - the reinforcements disappear and you're left with your original creature+buffs
2 - the entire creature is sent back to the library

    Thanks.

Every buff this ability gives is supposed to be temporary. So you should be left with the creature exactly as it was before you used the ability on it.

If you want a bit of history, the ability initially was supposed to fetch the next creature in your library, put it on the battlefield, reinforce it 1 to 4 times, give it haste and trample, and at the end of your turn it returned to your library.

The problem was that if the creature you fetched already had a copy on the battlefield, it would reinforce that copy (then due to another problem the additional reinforces wouldn't work, but that's another issue) and would return to your library at the end of your turn. Obviously we don't want to have an ability that bounces your own creatures back to your library, so we changed it to only affect what was already on the battlefield. I left haste on it so that if you did a match-5 you could use it on a creature you just summoned.

That's the whole story behind that ability icon_e_smile.gif

Thanks, that's what I meant by original creature+buffs, "the creature exactly as it was before you used the ability." Appreciate the clarification.

I actually thought the possibility of "one turn of glory, but then your creature goes away" to be pretty inventive. Not that I'm complaining!

It was interesting to me too, actually, but the downsides were too big. If you only had one stack of it, it didn't feel too bad, but if you had already reinforced the creature three times it would feel really, really bad. It was a lot of investment that was lost, and I try not to have downsides that are too overwhelming.
