Just some observations:
- it appears Alliance points are cumulative from all members within a given Alliance, and alliance awards are distributed individually.
- it appears there is no effective cap on number of members in a given Alliance
- players can "buy" their own slot into a given Alliance

Just a hypothesis. essisissis.
- given they buy their own ticket, an additional member to a given Alliance can only help, and not hinder, and would be able to progress more quickly.
- the extreme would be if everyone was in one uber-group, then everyone would get the top rewards

Of course, bragging rights go out the window, and this is based on the first few days of an alliance tourney.
