Have alliances made the progression rewards attainable?
I'm seeing a lot more activity in Fearless Defenders than usual. I attribute it to the fact that so many are pushing for high scores to support their alliances and get the alliance rewards. They seem to be more desirable, at the moment, than the individual rewards were.
I suspected I may finally be able to get the 3* cover progression reward in this event, which I hadn't been able to do in forever, because scores would be higher, in general, and you could finally get some reasonable points when pushing high scores.
I had just gotten to 1099 and was rushing to shield against incoming retaliations when I was hit for 29 (hi jozier!, keep pushing, I'm saving that node!). I'm pretty certain I can make the 1100 point prog reward before shielding to close the tourney.
Anyone else noticing this? Kinda makes alliances a good thing.

I have seen some people get to 1100, more than usual. I'm not sure if it's because of alliance stuff or the 3* cover being more in reach.0

It's obviously a combination of both because you still don't lose 100% of the point people gain even in the 900 range (I think it's like you lose 22 points when someone gain 25), so the conclusion is that if everyone played enough people should eventually be able to get there. The alliance stuff just gives people more motivation to actually play in a period outside of the last 3 hours of the tournament.0

Full point loss occurs at 500.
That being said, I don't think I've ever seen so much activity at the 500-600+ range before. I'd assert that the recent PvEs have someone mentally conditioned the crowd that high level teams are not necessarily invincible and are beatable. As a result, many teams are pushing higher then they have before, which is providing valuable points to the top of the food chain.
Today alone, I've been taken down multiple times by teams HALF of my level. Some of them are not even using stunlocks, but actually winning the hard way.
I think alliances have given the crowd a reason to actually push for higher scores. Without the 500 HP progression prize, there is no real hard definable "stopping" point for many of these teams.0 -

Well... yes, of course boosts. I'd can't fathom how 40s teams are winning without miracle cascades otherwise.
With the greatly increased ISO acquisition rate lately, boosts (outside of rainbows) aren't really that expensive. I'd say boosts are flowing quite freely across the population once more.0 -
Hehe, speaking of jozier, he hit me as I shielded. God knows how, but I'm 45 points better off for his misfortune. XD0

Was yours the OBW/Storm/Thor team?0

From my observation, it seems the only way to go is to tank your MMR so hard (during lightning rounds) that you can coast through your first 800 points on the weekend tournament in a few hours time on Sunday.
Or you can use shields and play peek-a-boo all the way to the top to get past 'the hump' around 500-700.0 -
This is the first time I've gone past 800. Am now shielded at just over 1,000. I think the number of people pushing for the progressives at 1,000 and 1,100 is making the point values more favorable. Usually, once I hit 600, it's a challenge to find any fights worth more than 15 points. But today, even at 850 and above, I was able to queue up 20+ matches without too much difficulty.0

I've been writing down some numbers as I climb the ladder. At 650, an opponent with 500 points I get +13, so I'd expect to lose 37 points if I get hit by them.
As I hit 700, I got hit by a guy with 421 points and lost 35 points. Since this guy has less points than 500, and I have more than 650, I'd expect to lose at least 37 points, but I only lost 35 points.
I'm pretty sure this reduction is in effect even up to around 1000. Now, at that range, you'd usually get nailed for 40 a hit so the fact that it went down to 38 might not mean much to you, but it's still there. It also means the more everyone plays, the higher everyone's points will be because those extra 2 points created in thin air still adds up over time.0 -
My guess is fewer players interested in Heroic Juggs at the same time. (Strange kinda dev genius, throwing out a "boring" heroic mode at the same time as the first alliance PvP.)
So a combo of all the alliance interest, and FD being the only tourney of interest.0
