Fixing countdown resolution mechanic

Countdown resolution has been a long-standing problem in MPQ. For readers who don't know the problem, countdown tiles resolve from left to right and top to bottom. Each tile is reduced by 1. As soon as a given tile reaches 0, its effect resolves.
Example: Daredevil's Billy Club is in the top left corner. It reaches 0 and moves down to a lower row and sets to 3. The system continues its calculation an reaches the new spot for Billy Club, and it immediately makes it a 2 in the same turn.
Solution: The Hood's intimidation provides the solution. Rather than making a sequence, Intimidation reduces ALL countdowns, then does a resolution phase for the tiles that are at 0. By changing the system's countdown resolution in that way, the ongoing problem may finally be corrected.

  • We'd lose the cascading with this... why is that something you want to happen? It is a likely change to happen though, since they like to bend the player over. orz

What I want is for the system to work. Also, when you can't eliminate enemy countdowns, it's nasty for multiples to go off in one round (One Rocket dropping another down so you get blasted by both; Covering Fire bring a Threaten or Tommygun down just before you deal with it). Plus, board reshuffle error was causing player Recharges to be incomplete when the second or third was sent upward. The problem is occasionally beneficial, but that doesn't mean it's good to keep it.
  • Right, but it isn't a problem with the resolve mechanic it is a problem with the failed attempt at fixing a stalemate board. They need to go back to it properly resolving and then shuffling instead of shuffling as soon as no match is available.

They both need to be fixed. They're separate fixes that both need to be made. The reshuffle just adds an extra layer of problem to something that was already a problem, and Daredevil is about the only player-used character that benefits regularly from it (which he shouldn't: it's a passive exploit).
