I cut my ISO debt by 25% using this one weird trick

okay, it's not that weird: I finally noticed that whenever I champion a 3* character, I go into my spreadsheet and I update the cover spread, as necessary (as some have been respec'ed on champing), I update the overall character level, and I give it a shiny blue color so that I can tell at a glance it's a champion.

What I haven't been doing as reliably is zeroing out the ISO needed to reach 166 for those characters. I fixed that for about a half dozen recent champions and suddenly my ISO debt is 1.7 million or so rather than the almost 2.5 million I'd believed it to be.

You may all now point at me and laugh.

So you didn't actually cut your iso debt at all. You just fixed your own wonky accounting system?

This does not help me at all! icon_mad.gif

Wonky accounting is a time-honored way of making debits and credits look better/worse than they actually are, as needed. Show some respect!

Why are you manually updating ISO costs? Most people have their sheets automatically modify the costs when they adjust the level.

That's the joke! I abhor clickbait, and the point of this thread is me making fun of myself. Using something I abhor.

    Self-flagellation.

I am not l33t enough with spreadsheet magic to figure out how to get the ISO column to automatically recalculate ISO costs when I increment the level. Or, rather, I know of a way to do it, but it's suuuuuuch a kludge. It's been easier for me to just manually type the level in one column and then adjust the named range that calculates ISO by removing a cell (or more, as necessary) from that range when I add levels.

And because anymore I'm going from 130 to 166 or 125 to 166, that means the ISO need is getting zeroed out when I add levels, so there hasn't been the urgency to figure out how to get the ISO column to automatically update with changes.

I also am cuting ISO by 25%, 50%, nearly sometimes 80% and more. I am recently leaving my country of Nigeria where I am baron of ISO mine heavy leading principate. I unfortunately am stuck delayed at United State custom office and finding that they are not accepting of ISO as currecnty! Please friend allow me to share my ISO wealthy luck with you so that you also may pay off all ISO debts you may currently possess now! Please send me small sum totals of 500,000 ISO and more so that I may upon return to my principate, repay you in kind with up to 10 millions of ISO.

I have a spreadsheet for all my ISO needs, just for the 4*s. I haven't even started with the 5*s, because I'm going to wait until they have 10 or more covers before starting that mission.

    It's not so bad.

    Name ISO to Max Champ
    Miles 343,587 356,087
    Failcap 343,587 356,087
    Mr. F 294,390 306,890
    Thing 330,802 343,302
    GR 335,399 347,899
    Gwen 315,131 327,631
    X-23 325,886 338,386
    Quake 337,521 350,021
    Venom 271,369 283,869
    Nova 325,886 338,386

    The formulas include:

    =sum(J$130:J$269)-D2

Which means the character is Level 130, so it's the sum of all ISO needed between levels 131 and 270, minus any ISO I have already accumulated.

    =B2+12500

Which means the total to Level 270, plus the 12500 ISO cost to champion.

    =if(B$18 = A8,A$18, "")

So I put the character's name in a certain box and then the iso for that character.

=sum(B$2:B$15) --> Total ISO needed to level my 13-cover 4*s to lv 270.
=sum(C$2:C$15) --> Total ISO needed to level my 13-cover 4*s to lv 270, and then champion them.
=C20/20000 --> Total days needed to get all that ISO, assuming I gain 20,000 ISO per day.

    Total Characters
    Totals 3,223,558 3,348,558 10

    Days left 167.4279

So it's only around 3.5 million iso for 10 characters. It was as high as 4 million before, so I guess it's getting better? The less I play, the less 4* covers I win, and then eventually I'll catch up, I guess? And then a lower percentage of my covers will go to waste?

I don't have an ISO debt. I spend it when I have it, not before.

You sure Quebbster? Admitting you have a problem with iso debt is the first step to treating your iso addiction. . .

With you so far, and that's basically what I'm doing. Except what I'm doing is naming a range after the character, with that range comprising the ISO from 130 or 125 to 166 for 3*, and from wherever they are to 270 for 4*. then I just have to go =SUM(SheHulk) or something to link it back to the main spreadsheet. That keeps my main page cleaner and makes it less of a headache for me linking pages.
    =B2+12500

Which means the total to Level 270, plus the 12500 ISO cost to champion.

Don't do this, but I should; I always forget about champion costs.

I don't really have a problem with ISO. I just champed my 22nd fourstar (Miles Morales) and now I am working on getting Drax up to level 180 or more. Once that's done, pretty much all my fourstars will be at least level 180 (covers permitting of course), and I can easily get them maxed from there should I happen to get a potential champion level. So I feel I am in a good place.

"Easily" get them maxed from 180? At that level, you're only 20% to champ status... still 300k away.

You got me to figure out how to add a column to my roster spreadsheet with ISO needed (relatively easy, since I already had ISO spent). 8M, just for the fully-covered characters. +4M for the ones that still need covers. Ouch!

I was hoping the trick was going to be selling characters....

Well, I mean, if I'd had ten fully champed 2* to sell, selling them off would ALSO have knocked me down about the same amount.

I prefer ISO needed to ISO spent. Less remorse that way.
