Quick Battle Discrimination

I've been playing this game for some time and I am still amazed how it gets away with discriminating half of the world (especially Europe) with the cruel timezone ignorance in Quick Battle event. For most of the Europe it ends at 3 or 4 am so in the middle of the night so for most of us Europeans a time when we're fast asleep trying to recover before another hard day at work. Because of that many of us choose to ignore this mode overall since even if we are in top10 or wherever before going to bed we'll still finish like 200ish when we wake up unable to build an advantage over people for whom it's the easy time of their evening when the event ends.

Are there even any plans of improving this situation? By maybe splitting the player population by their time zones that You could configure in Your profile or having 2 separate QB events from which You could participate only in one both being like 5-6 or more hours apart (one ending at 11 pm CET, the other at 4 am CET like right now)?

Rewards from QB are quite a major way of earning cards and You basically cut half of the world from having a chance at it like it is at the moment.

Hope this gets resolved somehow,
Regards,
M.

Basically what happened to me and(I think) jazzpha last night.
I was first, jazzpha probably is in the 7-8th place.
I was like 150 points ahead of 2nd.
I go to bed when 3 hours are left and put alarm to wake up 30 minutes before the event ends.
When I wake up I am behind by 80 points jazzpha is 10th.
I try desperate recapture but the first is still playing so impossible.
I ended up 2nd and jazzpha did not make in the first 10.

I think that even IF it is acknowledged by devs as an issue, it is rather low on priority so hardly anything will be made about it.

It happened quite a few times so I am getting used to it somehow.

I agree that alternate time slices would be good for this. I don't have it as bad since I'm awake when it comes to crunch time but I am still at work and that's far from ideal. Maybe they don't have a large enough player base yet to do all the time slices.

and what of people who go to sleep when you are awake and building a 300 point advantage? everyone has the same window of opportunity

There are already several slices in every QB event, each having max 3k players in it. So instead of having 10 3k slices, they would have 5x2 3k slices so the player base is not really the issue here. Other solution could be for each event to have another finish time, so the monday finish could be like it is, wednesday 6h earlier and friday 12 h earlier so every part of the world would have their favourite QB day...

It is definitely advantageous to be able to play when the time frame is closing out.

Yeah, I wound up finishing 11th. I entered the bracket at about 10:30 pm Italian time (6 hours left overall) and stopped playing around 12:30 with 150 points because I needed to sleep. I wasn't expecting to finish in the top 10, but being 11th is always a special kind of unfortunate.

Absolutely. We all get the same amount of time to play, but we don't know how much time we need to play to win the round. Us Europeans have to play as much as we can, and then we go to bed, then the Americans have the luxury of knowing exactly how long they need to play for while we're asleep unable to catch them up. They have second mover advantage.

Homer say's, "USA! USA! USA! ....". At least you Europeans get to enjoy alcohol at a reasonable age. Over here, we get the privelage to serve in war 3 years before we can legally buy a beer. icon_rolleyes.gificon_rolleyes.gif politics and cultures for yea.

I'd like to necro this thread of mine since we got a new community dude so maybe he can dish out some more interest in us Europeans than the last one had. Still many of us don't even try to compete in Quick Battle because it ends for us at 4am when we're asleep.

Differentiation of start/end times during week would solve this issue if it's not possible to taking it back 3-4 hours which would be fine also.

I agree; I actually think fixed start/end times are the single largest source of systematic unfairness in the game. But this thread only tells half the story. The other half is events.

In Australia, Quick Battles finish at 13:00 - usually fairly convenient. But events start at 04:00. I'd give away my convenient QB finish time permanently if I could both be competitive in events, and sleep at night. I usually just skip a round of nodes, because sleep is kinda important. To the random players who are the beneficiaries of my giving up my chances for mythics - you're welcome.

Wait wait, it's unfair for me as a US player to have to deal with you guys being able to out grind me when I have to be at work for 9 hours. Why should the Europeans get preferential hours.

If I want to win a quick battle I don't get to sleep the night before the QB ends. I then play from 10pm PST until 9AM PST in the hopes that I will have built up a big enough lead. I then head off to the office where I have to put in a full day of work, oh yeah the event ends right as I get off wotk 6pm. **** I'm in 11th place again!

I feel better about losing to you that time if you also had to stay up all night haha.

BTW, everyone has to work. But only some people can decide if playing at 6 hours at the end of the qb is worth it. Clearly you're not one of the lucky bunch.
