Chronic Crashing on iPad

I played about ten minutes on my iPad 2 this morning, and crashed three times. Some of my alliance mates (including my wife) play on iPad minis, and are becoming so frustrated with the crashing that they may stop playing the game entirely. The situation is made worse by the fact that any interruption on the ipad constitutes a loss, with your characters taking damage.
