Where do I go from here?

So I have a few 3* characters champed. Do I continue to level up some top tier Champs (KK, Cage, etc) while working on getting more 4*, or do I level Elektra and take her, Thoress, and İMHB into events for 4* progression? I'm past the 2 year mark if that helps at all, I know I should be further along but I've enjoyed a few hiatus from time to time. Thanks in advance.

I would focus on your top tier 3*s to continue building that solid base to work from and getting them champed. That will help get you more of the 4* covers you need.
I've actually stopped temporarily on my 4*s to go back and try to finish all the 3*s to complete that resource engine.0 -
Ok, I wasn't sure. But what do you consider top tier? If I go by Dauthi's guide: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=30187 the only top tier I don't have champed is Cyclops who I still need 2 more covers for (ideally red but I can champ him later and just switch his covers anyways). The next tier being high, has Champs that I either have max covers, or almost max covers.
Of those, the ones I can get to max level soonest in order would be KK, Cage, Hood, Mystique, Loki, R+G, Patch, Daken, and Doom. So I'm not sure what the best path would be. To help balance out the color wheel.0 -
Are you pvp or pve focused? If you put resources into Thor/ Hulkbuster they may struggle in pvp because you don't have full covers. If you had 13 in Hulkbuster, I'd say max him out as soon as you can.
Look at the Champion rewards for those 3* you could champion, and target those 4* covers you really want first. It's a slow process though.
Don't forget about Black Widow - if you get another 2 blue in Prof X, you want her with Scarlet Witch for maximum damage.0 -

That is the key thing to look at that isn't really referenced in Dauthi's guide because championing wasn't around when the guide was written.
For example, Beast and Quicksilver would be targets for me since they give Teen Jean and Iceman respectively. KK gets you more Thor covers.0 -
dauthi is a highly experienced player but I'd hesitate basing all my decision from one source. while most of the order lines up with most of conventional thought, I disagree with some of the list because I play differently than dauthi and you'll likely play differently than either of us. overall I put somewhat more weight into the polls (I think the latest was https://d3go.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=40430, although that is more of a popularity contest in the upper rarities. To me, cage should be next on your list and I think you have enough maxed where hood and loki should get some consideration. after that things become very subjective. I love gamora with fist, but she has to tank over fist, so that means she needs to be champed asap if she ever has a chance at catching up. then you have some tanks to consider - hulk, marvel, grocket. hulk and marvel can be keys against galactus and other specific situations, but aren't high-end characters overall. grocket is solid and their healing is great. but no direct damage, so they need a damage dealer (low ap and attack tiles to dip on strikes as much as possible) to tag along. if you get a top tier 4 covered (one of the 'top 5'), level them. until then keep plugging away at your 3s. I think feeders are an important consideration, but until you're further down the road, I'm not sure how much weight I'd put into it. sentry and qs have great feeds, but unless you have a ton of covers in queue you can utilize, I wouldn't champ them ahead of useful characters.0

In general, don't include the 4*s you'll be getting from 3*s in your leveling decisions.
I've champed 36 3*s the day championing went live, and so far not a single one has reached the second 4* cover (Hulk is the closest at 215).
So realistically you'll get one 4* cover in the first 8 months, meaning you'll draw a lot more covers from LTs and classic pulls.0 -
I agree with the previous post, the 4* covers you get from a 3* should be a minimal factor in your decision making as to who you should champ. Your first priority should be to champ the top level of 3* characters, then those characters that help fill in color coverage, then support/niche characters that can be useful in situations. Those three factors will cover about half the 3* characters out there and those they don't are generally garbage that you can level as you get the opportunity.
That is where I am at now, I don't have enough covers to level 4* to competitive place and I am champing 3*. I would quit the game if I hoarded iso for some day in the future when I may get enough covers to actually start developing my 4* roster enough that they are an improvement over my 3* roster because the 4* transition is taking way, way to long. As a PvE player I figure well at least I will have a maxed 3* roster and in PvE, a good developed 3* roster will probably do better than an underdeveloped 4* roster due to scaling. I don't care much about PvP. My hope now is that I luck into some decent 5* covers and may just skip 4* transition altogether.0 -
I'd agree with the in general not considering the Champion rewards in your planning, and I wouldn't consider beyond the first one, however, given that the process of getting 4* can take months, those 2 covers at 183 can be a boon. If it's a stream towards a top team character you have already got a good number of covers in, get both feeders and build those covers towards it. If you get lucky and pull the cover from a token in the meantime, fantastic, it'll be a champion level. If not, it might be that key cover to get the character up and running (5th red in Hulkbuster or Thor for example)0

Most players will have quit before reaching level 265 on a 3*.0 -

The point I was trying to make was that with a high covered charcter, when you are at the mercy or rng, it's good to know you have a couple of covers lined up for a character that can push you to 13.0 -
Thanks everybody. So it's been a crazy week and I just forgot to check the forums, but I read over all the posts. Let me try to get to them in order of poster
CT1888: Right now I'm more PvE focused. With the new difficulty changes the enemy difficulty seems to max out at 260-267ish at the final node in a subchapter, but I can garner all the points needed for the final 25CP reward. Now, there have only been two events since the introduction of this change, and this event happening now (with hell and mephisto and all that) requires invisible woman which I don't have. So that may be a different story.
Madok: I haven't tried quicksilver since his revamp, so I stopped putting any ISO into him, though he may be coming up the list. Beast is the same. He seems to be a fine utility character, but I'm having a hard time finding a team for him that other characters couldn't fit into better. Although the Iceman and Young Jean covers are incredibly tempting.
TxMoose: So incidently I did max out cage this past week. I had the iso and remembered after watching Jessica Jones on Netflix that I'd wanted to max him and he fell by the wayside, so I maxed him (but not champ yet). Dauthi's guide seems to be similar to my playstyles. However there are some differences. I really enjoy playing Bullseye, and find him paired with other attack tile generators to be a good combo. That being said, Ms Marvel seems like a good tank, but her damage seems really low compared to Cage and other options. Is she strictly a utility tank? What are situations where she's better than the competition (not including galactus and the such). She seems like she would be useful vs Muscle and Hitmen. Does she pair well with She-hulk for enemy tile control? As far as 4*'s, I think IMHB will be the first one to be maxed, since he's the highest currently. I think I'll look at Loki and Hood like you suggested.
Bowgentle: I am still a ways away from pulling any covers from champs, but I'll keep this in mind. Luckily though nearly all of my LT and CP pulls have been useful to me.
Warbringa: This seems to be the issue that a lot of people complain about. Getting the covers is slower than 3* obviously, but with covered 3*'s and you can smash through PvE, and even PvP stress can be alleviated since you have multiple team comps you can throw out there. This makes getting 4* covers easier, but it kills your iso supply. It's frustrating too because Iso is the crux of progress in the game, and it's the most limiting factor it seems.
I'll try to keep champion rewards as an after thought. It'll be nice when I get them, but I shouldn't rely on them. Thanks everybody for your input. I think I'm going to try Loki and Hood next, then look at the differences between Captain Marvel and Hulk for tanks. If you know of anything else I should be considering, more input is always appreciated.0 -
