An interesting looking update for Magic The Gathering Puzzle Quest. Isn't this exactly what MPQ has needed for ages now, in some form or another? How could we translate this to MPQ?

"We want to make matchmaking fair and offer appropriate and meaningful rewards.

With our Event system ramping up, we need ways to give players fair challenges - and rewards! We have players at every end of the power spectrum, and our events generate unique uses of cards and planeswalkers. This means we need something granular, scaling with each player’s strengths and weaknesses: Color Mastery.

For PvP Events, both the challenge (your opponent’s difficulty) and the rewards scale up with your Mastery Tier. For PvE Events, only the rewards scale up with Mastery Tier… for now!"

"Forward Thinking" would imply they know what is going on in the future of the game. This would mean a decent amount of testing as well as play at high levels with high scaling, seeing what difficulty vs time needed vs rewards means.

I haven't seen any evidence of that forward thinking in this game. If they want play-testers to do it for them...there are a TON of great suggestions over in the suggestions forum. (Which they they "read")
