Through round 5, I've been using Fist, XFDP, and Cyclops (3/5/5), with a principle goal of getting as much red as possible since OOB is doing 15K damage (enough to one-shot Ultron). Still, that doesn't seem like a great team -- anyone else have suggestions against higher level Ultron?0

You might want to try HulkBuster/Switch with Xpool set to 3/5/5. Use Wanda to power up Xpool's Countdown to What. Everytime Ultron destroys the the bottom row he'll set it those countdowns if they're in there for 3500+ damage. If you match them you can use them in addition to damage (Ultron's strongest color is black) to power up HB quickly and let him use his boosted red.
Just be careful when those bombs do hit. In round 7, they do 15K damage, which will kill off Switch and most 3 stars.
I'm switching to OML/Ghostrider/ Iron Fist for my next lap, accelerating the black to do Penance Stare. That worked really well in the 7th and 8th rounds of Civil War, where that match damage adds up quickly. My last fight in round seven this morning had the Penance Stare meter at 55000 damage, which I threw back at him 200%. I was using Xpool/HB with GR then, so they were able to soak up that damage (each one took a bomb) one time, but hopefully I'll be able to fire it off before it gets that bad again.0 -
So, are they ever going to have one of these boss fights where the minions don't randomly scale ridiculously? I went to bed last night (on round 4) and the minion fights were ~50-60. This morning I wake up (still on round 4) and the minion fights are ~200. ****? This seems to happen with every boss fight. I'd be OKAY, if we'd moved rounds (though that's a hell of a hop from one round to the next), but this was THE SAME ROUND.0

The increases coincide with the 8 hour unlock of the side nodes. Everyone seems to hate the drastic upswing in difficulty after 24 hours, but they keep on doing it.0

Everytime Ultron destroys the the bottom row he'll set it those countdowns if they're in there for 3500+ damage.
This revelation about Countdown For What tiles has been awesome -- I had XFDP at 5/5/3 because I just assumed that Ultron would erase the bottom row instead of actually destroying them.
I have been using IMHB, XFDP, and Cyclops though to try to catch as much red as a I can -- round 7, and my record is still perfect (although XFDP was the last one standing in one match thanks to a billion bombs going off).0 -
I know Jean grey can use purple to get rid of all of the bombs. Does 3* falcon also get rid of the bombs when you are over 5 blue?0

He does not.0 -
I'm only on round 5 so far, but have found a really nice combo against Ultron with IMHB/XFDP/XFW.
Haven't taken too much damage, and have been getting Ultron down pretty quickly by using Countdown for What, followed by Surgical Strike, and if needed, Repulsor Punch.
HB's blue and XFW's yellow/green provide some nice cascades/board shake to help destroy the bombs.0 -
Invisible Woman has a use here! Her blue at LVL 5 can lock up the bomb tiles. If you get enough blue, you can lock up the entire top row, which will prevent bombs from forming. Of course, if the board switches because there aren't any matches, then the locked tiles move around. Also, if a match 4 destroys a column, ALL bombs will start falling down that column until either it gets locked, or another column frees up. Eight bombs going BOOM all at once will take out just about any character in the game.
If you save Elektra's Shadow Step for when a bomb is about to go off, that will save a whole lot of damage on her. None of her trap tiles last very long, but her black will help to keep her alive.
If X-Force Wolverine's Recovery tile gets destroyed on the bottom row, it does not trigger for damaging Ultron.0 -

Pity that AI has no such problems
After reshuffle I had a bomb laying unexploded at the bottom, I left it thinking it will get destroyed in AI's round.
As normaly it is bottom row destruction then bombs fall and only then they explode...
No cigar, it exploded on AI's turn and only then bottom row got obliterated...

Been having a ton of luck with XFDP/IM40/GSBW. IM40 for the AP battery, XFDP's Countdown for What at 5, and GSBW at 5/5/3. Widow's Pistol and Sniper Rifle are perfect for getting rid of bombs and for setting off CDfW. Undefeated so far, but don't know how much wiggle room this combo will have in rounds 7 and 8.0

For Ultron, hulkbuster 200+, luke cage170+, XFW 270+do fine for me.
As an aside I see people mention Iron Man 40. As a guy who has played for almost 3 years, traditionally he was useless. Given the recent popularity of him I figured he was buffed, and after looking, it seems so. So in vintage D3 fashion, they overbuff a garbage character, which for some undefined amount of time allows for the deck to be stacked in his favor resulting in, generally, a terrible playing experience. The recent popularity of him tells me that d3 overcompensated. That is fine until you hit PVP.0 -
Another team I've had success with is Hulkbuster, Iron Fist, and X-Force Wolverine. Get lots of black for Surgical Strike. Since this takes away black, you're only likely to get it once. That plus Repulsor Punch is generally worth a lot of damage, though. Iron Fist's strike tile regenerates if the row gets destroyed, so even if it shows up on the bottom two rows (for FIVE placements in a row!?!?!? ) it will come back.0

Her Deceptive Tactics is also useful to form a 4-match to clear rows with bombs.
I add Hood whose Twin Pistols also clears bombs.0 -

Another example of how D3 weaponized IM40 after he was useless for years. Ridiculous.0 -
Finished round 8. So far IM 5* has been the hardest boss battle I've done. I've not played Galactus so hopefully they run that soon!0

Jean Grey's Purple no longer works as of LVL 6. I cast it twice, and both times the bombs stayed on the board. She took 7227 damage because of one of the bombs. My Jean Grey is 5/3/5, so she has that skill maxes out.0 -

There is no actual benefit to the 5th cover in green for GSBW in this one, it adds the aoe component rather than extra dmg.0 -
