Survey Feedback

"We'd like to hear from you about our latest feature - Events! Tell us about what you think and how we can improve the system!" - In Game Announcement.

I took the survey but never saw a section for 'how we can improve the system'. So either I'm blind or the survey was slanted so only positive feedback was received. Either way, I'll post my balanced feedback here:

Positives:
1. Good rewards at my own pace.
2. An actual non-PVP mode (I also play MPQ where that doesn't exist).
3. Beginning is easy and the difficulty progressively gets harder.
4. Opponent decks and enemies are unique.
5. Challenges for each fight offered good rewards and had a healthy mix of easy and difficult ones (relative terms, I know).
6. I felt valued as a gamer. The goal appeared to be to provide a fun experience, and not a 'gimme your money' one.

Feedback:
1. If the event is marked for a certain color deck, I'd expect that color to have a reasonable chance (with skill, not luck) at clearing the entire event if the planeswalker is maxed. Certain colors had to rely on being very lucky for the last boss. This provides a better sense of accomplishment and not relief that luck was on your side.
2. Have each opponent clearly marked on what should be able to beat them with skill (ex. Any color, lvl 25; or manawhite.png, manablue.png, managreen.png, lvl 60). This provides a good gauge for players on how good they are vs the game designers expectations.
3. The event opponent chapter list doesn't remember where you last left off. This provides a QOL improvement, nothing major.

Summary:
Overall, I liked the events as PvE is more of my personal preference. I'm a casual player and it's both a low stress and challenging way to play the game.

I agree with most of this, but on the boards, people reported beating Kozilek with Ajani (red-white), Chandra (red), Gideon (white), Gideon II (white), Jace (blue), Kiora (blue-green), Liliana (black), Nissa (green), Ob Nixilis (black), Sarkhan (black-red), and Tezzeret (blue). Some also reported beating the level with sub-50 powered Planeswalkers.

That's every color combination and each of the original 5 planeswalkers.

The developers could put "easy, medium, hard, expert" indicators on the various levels, but the players should figure that out pretty readily, and I'm not sure the developers are the best judge of this. Plus, the prizes are fairly substantial when compared with the amount of money they charge to buy that stuff outright.

Yea, I saw those posts but would question if they felt like winning was primarily luck based (good board, good hand, bad hand for opponent, less cascades for opponent, etc). I have a Gideon Lvl 60 but the opponent's Crush of Tentacles kept appearing. For me to win with that deck, it'd require the opponent to avoid playing that card, which is 100% luck.

What? No, you can reliably beat Kozilek with Gideon 1 - I have, each of the 3 times the event has run. You need to be prepared for Crush of Tentacles and/or Remorseless Punishment, but that's doable. Keep creatures in your hand charged up (first strikers or lifelinkers), with a couple of more disposable cards after them in your hand as a Punishment buffer, and preferably a removal spell (Smite / Scour) to hit the octopodes, and preferably loyalty as well so you can immediately give +4/+4 to whatever creatures you cast post-Crush. It's perfectly doable. Pretty tough if the boss gets a good chain of Crush followed by Tyrant + Punishment or Crush + double Punishment, but that kind of sequence is fairly unlikely. I've beaten him in 2-3 tries each time, and my Gideon is level 56.
