Alliance left incidentally - how long before joining?

I've just formed an alliance, so I'm quite new in this business, and already have a technical question. A player clicked on "Leave" button incidentally, and would like to send a new request to rejoin, but he's unable to. I understand it's some sort of safety limit, but the question is: how long does it take for the limit to "cool down", so that Wendrowycz (that's his nick) can send another request? If anyone knows that, I'd be grateful for an answer.
