Push notifications not working as intended

I'm using an android phone, and I notice that despite switching on all the options for push notifications under settings, it's not functioning properly.

1. It did not notify me when new tournaments or events started.

2. It notified me when I got attacked (that's ok), but it also notified me whenever my tournament ranking changed. That's pretty annoying, since that happens a lot. I only want to know when I get attacked, so I can retaliate. Many times the notification tells me I was defeated, but it was really a false alarm due to a ranking change.
