Beyond Repair?

[Beware! Newbie Novel Incoming!]
I've been playing the game for a while (long while actually) but never really got into the whole meta of the game, pursuing PVP, or actually even joining an alliance. I took a break from playing a while back and just really came back to playing in the few weeks. To give a time-frame, when I took my break, Nick Fury had just been released. To top it off, I started playing the game on Steam, and then decided to download it on IOS, not realizing at the time that the account wouldn't link, so I've ended up having two distinct rosters, one for each account and still play both on and off.

My approach was level and upgrade as I got new covers, keeping the threes (and fours), and blowing away the twos, except for MNMag/CStorm/2Thor on the IOS account, and those three and a handful of others on the Steam account. The last few events had me bashing my head against the wall (due to what I now understand as scaling), so I decided to hit the 'net and found these forums.. I've learned a lot lurking the last couple days, but I'm wondering if my rosters have reached a point of being beyond repair. I can get through a lot of the fights by brute force and sheer luck, but that's becoming more of a chore lately.

Now for the rosters -
Steam - TarjanVK https://mpq.gamependium.com/rosters/TarjanVK/ - 336 days played
IOS - D00M https://mpq.gamependium.com/rosters/D00M/ - 311 days played

My rosters are basically a mish-mash of luck... Covers from tokens, DDQ (I've been having great fun with that), and occasionally, somehow, I'll actually do well enough in an event and end up with goodies out of that - for example, I somehow managed to score high enough on the Steam account to get the Yellow and Blue Peggy covers.

My Main Team (Unless they're locked out for an event) usually has been XFW/MNMag/CStorm. I've been using Hulk/XFW/GSBW and, after reading a forum member's suggestion, Hood/CMag/GSBW on my IOS account (which hasn't been hit as hard with scaling, since I don't have a 5* and haven't leveled XFW as high as I did on my Steam account).

Sooooo.... Is there any direction I can take without dropping tons of $ to get things tightened up and useable? I'm saving up HP to purchase another slot on IOS, so I can take a member's advice to build a level 40 1* Jugg for DDQ purposes, but, where too now?

Thanks
-T

I don't think you're doomed. Neither roster is wildly out of whack.

The TarjanVK roster has a 5* with the potential to throw off scaling, but only if none of your 5-6 higher-level 3*s aren't boosted. XFW will impact your scaling if you've only got 1 boosted 3*, but probably not by much.

The DooM roster looks on-par with a standard developing 3* roster. Nothing in there will make it harder for you to play against similarly staffed peers.

I would advise against maintaining two accounts unless you have tons of time on your hands. It's unfortunate that you can't merge them, but playing both simultaneously is a herculean effort. When I was trying to be competitive I was spending 8 hours per day on one account. If want both accounts to grow competitively you have to be prepared to give up work, sleep, or half of both. Pick your desired platform and run with it.

Calnexin - Thanks so much for the response.

I've actually found myself focusing on and playing the Steam account more than the IOS account. Mainly on the IOS account, I'll go through and do the DDQ, get the PVE event map completed and try and get the one or two CP from the day's map final fight and 4* special (if I have them). Upcoming DDQs are going to let me soft level-max out three more 3*s on the Steam (TarjanvK) account (Patch, Hulk, and Psylocke) so I can work on getting those to 166 and championing them, and I'll be able to champ Punisher as well with the DDQ cover on Aug 2nd. Currently working on the last 6 levels to get CMags to 166 and champ'd with a cover I've got in queue, but the ISO is very thin.

As I'm pretty new to the whole idea of championing, are there any characters that are getting up there that I shouldn't worry about champing right away? Psylocke might take a while because I don't have her level-maxed for her covers at the moment.

Finally, how many covers on a 4* should I have before trying to use them in their Crash fight as the come up? I've read that level 150ish should do (I assume with the right covers in place) but how many covers is that?

    Thanks again!

This varies greatly by character. Mainly you want damage dealing powers at 5 covers and enough health to survive long enough to fire them. Characters that can go invisible or with long stuns can avoid being damaged and can win with low levels. PeterGibbons' guide is a good reference for the individual matchups: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=37974
