what do you do when your motivation declines?
i just realized how much fun I had with vision, now every match takes 4 times as long, I ragequit every 3, 4 matches because im annoyed beyond words.
i want matches to take 3-5 mins max, if I need 10 mins for the first wave in ddq because an intern thought it would be fun to start with symbiotes, ... well, keep that cover.

im transitioning to 4*, have rulk and hb max covered, but im not sure if maxing both increases my motivation

pretty sure underwhelming rewards, treading water while accumulating 4*covers and discovering witcher 3 are a factor, but....
what to do? what keeps you motivated and from looking for someone to buy your roster?

Max HB/Rhulk. They're both great and will make short work of those slimy symbiotes!

Well, it used to be telling myself I'd get the 3*'s all maxed eventually. That's what I told myself 18 months ago - it will happen in the off-season! And...I never use 3*'s.

Then it was telling myself I'd get all the 4*'s to DDQ-able, and max many. Then they started releasing two 4*'s a month and not increasing covers or ISO, so that's impossible as well.

Next I've told myself I'll max a 5* and enjoy the raw power of a top character. Except MMR and scaling have ruined that fun as well.

Now I'm simply hoping the devs put in new gameplay before the game folds. So pretty much:

I don't motivate myself - just took a step back and limited my play time. I do DDQ and slowly gather iso and HP. I stopped caring about new releases or placement. I will now play casually in PvP and PvE with the occasional hard core bursts (when Rhulk is boosted next time I will finally aim at 1300 in PvP). I actually enjoy the game when the pressure of achieving a result is gone (from the perspective of over 700 days of play).

If I don't like event - i will skip it (see simulator which i just could not be bothered to play). I am hoping we will have team events once a month (or at least once every two months) with good rewards - they are usually fun.

I took the game from a part time job to my treadmill companion. I think I am already winning icon_e_smile.gif

Take a break, cut back on the parts of the game that don't provide enough enjoyment for the time investment.

I'd very much like to have Peggy Carter and enough iso to champion one of my 4*s, but I can't get motivated to grind Unstable ISO8, so I'm pvp only for a little while. The off season events aren't a big priority, so I can go do something else for a few days.

I pick something I want for my roster, and I play to get it. Then I set another goal. Rinse, repeat.

Chasing placement is what I've found causes burnout, especially in PvE. PvP is a little more manageable because if you want you can reduce it to 3 days of an hour or three.

It's also about understanding that at a certain point, chasing new releases is fools gold. Yeah Peggy looks awesome but most people aren't getting her usable any time soon, so an extra cover isn't worth the stress.

jup, already cutting back my playtime - aimed at 10k for the season, but couldn't be bothered for the last 2 PvPs

now I practically force myself through ddq and don't care about pvp or pve in the least

I shield at 800 and stop on PVPs, instead of shooting for 1300.

And I stopped even attempting to get placement in PVE (except t100 on new releases) a long time ago.

I find whips are good to motivate myself...rabid dogs can work too. Large men threatening to beat me. Of course if you want a fun way to motivate yourself instead of a way to scare yourself into playing I've got nothing.

If I need to discover motivation to play a game, it's best I stop playing altogether.

Man, my library says "512" today (in large part due to the Humble Bundles). I've been pretty good about not buying anything in the last few sales because this is so, SO accurate.

Seriously, at the very least max Rulk. He is my one and only maxed 4* so far and by himself sped up the gain dramatically. I literally look at any match I play with him as "How many times do I have to cast Rulk's Green?" Less than 3 times and the fight is a breeze. 2-3 minutes is on the long side of average. And I went from struggling to get 1k per pvp with an 8 and 3 shield, to hitting 1300 nearly every time with just those two shields. Huge difference.

As for your original question, the rewards work out well for me. I still can use about 75% of all 4 star covers, so opening LTs is almost always a benefit and I am seeing my 4*s get well covered. I recently stepped back from doing every PVE because that was interfering with PVP and it is so much less time consuming getting 1300 in PVP than it is hitting max progression in PVE for the same reward. So finding the most rewards for the amount of effort I am willing to put in is I guess how I motivate myself.

If I have to be motivated to play a game, it means the game is terrible. Therefore I do not play it. Not telling you to quit MPQ, just saying you need to play it at a level where its fun, and you need no motivation.
