I Will Shed Many Tears...

If i see another 10 day event this month. It honestly feels like the last month has been nothing but 10 day tournys...BECAUSE IT HAS.

So please, maybe release an event that lasts like 46 minutes just to cheer up the ones who have been bored to tears with the tedious grinding. And maybe some party balloons when the event ends tomorrow.

plus cake, everybody likes cake(the cake is a lie)

A new Prologue chapter would be nice. Tack on some easy and small progression rewards, no placement rewards, no point refreshing/rubberbanding, more lenient level scaling, and a Hulk-cover-esque aggregate-point-unlock node that's very doable (and gives Thor yellow icon_cool.gif ). Make it a leisurely event with a bit of story that can be done quickly (due to lack of point refreshes), but is open for a week.

I think PVE lovers have been asking for this for some time but no response from devs. Non competitive PVE chapters to help us with our sanity... @IceX please!

I feel I seriously need I break from the merciless grinding. Ten days is too long for an event to stay fresh and exciting, it's turning into a working schedule after some time. I mean, I do play it still, but there's too much of obligation involved, which is contrary to fun. So yes, let's have something light, short and refreshing now, if I launch MPQ tomorrow and see another gigantic PvE tournament with 230 lvl opponents, I'm gonna have a panic attack, a stroke, or both.
  • Im fine with continuous long PvE. Some i play competitively, others i play just for some iso. You dont have to play every single one to win but there should always be PvE content. PvP should be short, PvE long.

Exactly. You could just play to win one or two subs and you have the non competitive PvE. As scaling kicks in you can just stop playing after 5 days.

    Agreed.

Haven't you people ever heard of OCD?!

I pretty much agree, except for the fact my competitive nature always wants to do well in these events. Realistically, I shouldn't really care too much about getting 1 Thor cover or 3, as he's going to be useless compared to my high level heroes, but the completionist in me wants to get all 3. I am happy with the amount of Iso I now have stored up (around 75k), and if there is another PvE that gives out just as much, bring it on.
  • TaT perhaps but with ISO prizes inside of giving patch out like candy?
Would be great to get something like 8k for top 10 in a sub while it runs, not unreasonable since they did give out 8k progression reward.

With the way people keep bringing that event up here on the forums, I feel like I'm in the minority for not winning enough covers for a maxed patch.
  • I definitely could enjoy a full month or two without a new character issued. The long PVP would not have been a problem (for me) with some less vital prizes.

Or maybe the problem was elsewhere: we had way more players overall but the 3 cover area is just 1000. (Was it 1500 last time with 33% less players?).
If it were top 3000 getting 3 covers and 6000 getting two it would have been playable at leisure.

Actually, has anyone done the math on whether or not the bracketed or the unbracketed events give out more covers for the community?
  • Tat was bracketed, i only had a few patches, but i was a newbie then.
The people complaining( don't ppl always icon_lol.gif )were the high levelers who constantly took top place.
Just like how ppl complained about punisher candy----high levelers that have transitioned past ** a long time ago.
I dunno, could be bias, they really need more newbie friendly events, without mmr n scaling justifying it.
Get the hunt series back perhaps with more ** prizes?

That would be a tough one to compute, because with an unbracketed event you can gauge total number of players far more easily. AFAIK, there's no way to determine exactly how many brackets are running for any given bracketed event. So, in terms of raw number of covers it would be tough to tell. We're also comparing very different types of events, but it's fun to break these things down, so let's try.

Much easier to guesstimate based on percentages and assume the same number of entrants:

I believe there's somewhere in the mid 90K-100K range participating in the Hulk event. Let's round that up to 100K for ease of use, and compare that against percentages for Predator and Prey with a bracket size of 500. For comparison's sake, let's say Predator and Prey has the same hypothetical 100K entrants.

    Hulk: X-Force + 3xThor - 200 places (.2% of players)
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: X-Force + 3xHood - 1 place (.2% of players)

    Hulk: 3xThor - 800 places (.8% of players)
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: 3xHood - 4 places (.8% of players)

    Hulk: 2xThor - 2333 places (2.33% of players)
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: 2xHood - 5 places (1% of players)

    Hulk: 1xThor - 3333 places (3.33% of players)
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: 1xHood - 40 places (8% of players)

    Hulk: 3xWolvie2* - 6666 places (6.66% of players)
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: no comparable reward tier

    Hulk: 2xWolvie2* - 6666 places (6.66% of players)
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: no comparable reward tier

    Hulk: 1xWolvie2* - 6666 places (6.66% of players)
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: 1xStorm - 150 places (30% of players)

So, for our hypothetical 100K entrants playing both events there will be more total 2*+3* covers given out in the PvE unbracketed event:

    Hulk: 200 4* covers, 11000 3* covers, 40000 2* covers
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: 200 4* covers, 9800 3* covers, 30000 2* covers

Hulk event is the clear winner here... or is it?

It actually turns out that if your goal is to land at least one cover from a given * rating, it's actually more generous in the bracketed PvP environment:

Hulk: .2% get at least 1-4*, 6.66% get at least 1-3*, 20% get at least 1-2*
    vs.
    Predator/Prey: .2% get at least 1-4*, 10% get at least 1-3*, 30% get at least 1-2*

So, raw number of covers? Victory to unbracketed PvE. Chance to land a certain level of cover? Edge to bracketed PvP.

Edit: When you consider the timeframes here, the edge goes wildly towards PvP as a cover generator for the community assuming the same number of entrants per event. Even if each PvP had only a 1/3 of the entrants of a PvE, you could run 3 2/3 PvP tourneys in the time it takes to run one PvE event, so PvP is far and away the bread and butter, while PvE is a better ISO generator and place to compete for new characters.

Right, can't please everybody I guess. These are my absolute favorite events. I like the fact that dedication will win you a spot in the end rewards. I like the iso and other resource return it provides -- most of the pvp events leave me dead in the water after I beat the seed teams, they go instantly from pushover to impossible.

So this gives me *something to do* after having long since beat every single replay of the prologue missions. I get twitchy when there's just one impossible pvp thing in the orange tab and no pve nodes to go play with.

Give me more non-event pve as was mentioned before - sure, that's great. I learned from the original batch. I won't blow through it completely this time, but will save it so I have something to do when there isn't a Hulk going on.

I guess if you don't like these events, maybe go outside or something?
  • Aside from the super grinding final day, I don't find this event that grindy. Doing just the Black Panther/Punisher missions was enough for a very high placement.
  • Seriously. Ten days of easy HP and boundless ISO. Bring on red ISO-8. Fire up Heroic Dark Avengers. Bust out a Villainous Venom chapter where you kick Spider-Man's butt...

I like your signature. What's with all the Spider-Man and Venom alliances topping the current tourney.
