New Option: Deactivate 5* in PvE

It seems as though some people are dying to doom scaling in PvE again, this is obviously difficult to balance.

People are being punished for having the best characters, while having most of their roster being rendered useless and unplayable.

I have a solution to propose.

A new option you can toggle off and on, entirely as your choice.

Deactivate 5* characters in Story Mode.

People can then play with 4*s and boosted characters/champions in an easier to scale environment that means players can actually have fun, and being an option it's OPTIONAL. If someone wants to switch on Nightmare Mode with the highest tier characters in the game they can choose to play that way.

They can then also choose to have a pool of dozens of playable characters in a difficulty that rewards them for having a good roster of characters.

That's where many (if not most) players get a chance to run their severely undercovered 5*s. If you remove that, then a lot of rare characters will start collecting dust.

Please read the OP carefully (emphasis mine):

Keep going - make it optional to deactivate 4*s so I don't have to face over levelled Jugs, Bullseye and Daken so much, deactivate 3*s even.......

Soft capping via another route isn't the answer - the answer is change how your roster impacts scaling but make it so it is always 1000% the right thing to have a stronger roster

How about, any characters that are locked out of a node/entire PVE are not included in the scaling? That way, when I can't use my lvl 360 OML on the first 3-4 days of EotS, I'm not facing enemies that are boosted because of my OML?

Or maybe, stop locking out characters from specific nodes. Really annoying that I can't use my 3* Daken half the time in pve.

Seems like an alright work around to me, but it doesn't sound like the best long term solution.

I posted this on the subreddit a while back, but yes. I'd like to see a "bench" roster, that parallels our normal roster. Moving characters from your normal roster to your bench has an associated cost (ISO or HP) and and "turns off" or removes them from scaling and being able to use them but allows you to still add covers and level them up with ISO. Once you want to actually use them, you pay another cost (again ISO or HP) to move them from your bench to your normal roster where they are "turned on" once again and count towards scaling. Moving a character from one roster to the other "locks" them from being able to be moved again for a certain amount of time, say 1 month. This curtails people from abusing the feature.

Your bench requires a free "slot" to move a character just like your roster, so it adds another way for D3 to monetize if they want as well as another thing you're spending ISO/HP on. I honestly don't see how this isn't win/win for everyone involved.

5* are the only thing that make PvE easy for me and i am telling this as someone, who have all 5*s on ther default level, and all 3* championed and far above all 4*s i own... Your suggestion makes no sense.
