How much should I fail.. [to get an easier PvE bracket]

.. to get into an easier PvE bracket? I've been full clearing the current story and am at rank #119, which rewards me with 500 iso and 25 HP. I'm grouped up with some seriously hardcore people. I hope about 20 of them take a long rest in this next 24 hour final story cycle so I can break that 100 mark and get a Captain America cover.

Do you use refreshes optimally? Do you wait for the bar to be full? Grind at the end?
Give us some idea of your PVE skill level. It might help the forumites help you. If you are grinding down right away, you're likely not playing optimally - I know, as I used to do that, and had no idea how scoring worked.0 -
Not a hardcore player like that. Got the job and family priorities always getting in the way So not really looking for tips on optimizing my PvE skillz, but looking for feedback if anyone knows what placement you have to get for the system to downgrade you into an easier bracket. If it's something like, finish outside of the top 100 for 3 straight events. Or something like that?0

Top 200 gets you a Cap cover. A nice change to the rewards system.0

Good news! top 200 gets a cover. If you manage to top 100, you get both and .0

LOL, oh man, was looking at the daily chapter of the rewards. So I guess I failed in my post asking about failing. I won't be trying my luck on any tokens for a bit.0

I am at 25 and only playing for ISO so I will drop for you. I will still do some clear but not 7 since I already got my CP. just for you OP0

Most of your responders are giving you advice on how to progress in vet brackets, which is not what you asked for.
I've read that placing <400 for 3 events dumps you into a noob bracket. You do have to compete and place - if you're idle your place stays the same.
You don't get many, though. Once you dominate one or two, you're right back into vets. So make it count. You don't want to waste an easy bracket on Chulk.0 -

I can't seem to get into a noob bracket. I guess I haven't failed enough PVEs. I'll work on that, stat!!!
Vet brackets in PVEs are quite terrible. It's soul-crushingly awful to work twice as hard as others yet not win any significant placement prizes. Meanwhile others are bracket-sniping and winning top progression prizes with maybe an hour's worth of effort.0 -
Bracket sniping doesn't win you progression prizes...0
-
Even looking for a relatively empty bracket doesn't get you T10 with an hour's effort unless you're already swimming in maxed 5*s.0

I deliberately did exactly one node per PVE a while back to see how long it would take me to get plopped into a scrub bracket. It was three events. I dunno if there's more to it then just placing badly or if it takes your overall score into account, though.0

I also only did the initial node. First time I got the noob bracket was Drax, and I only tanked the 1 event before it. Second time I got the noob bracket was Rhodey, and I tanked two events before that. I think I'm in a noob bracket for Kate now, and I only tanked the last event. Howard I did not get a noob bracket, and I tanked 2 events before it. Seem to be random0 -
If pve is not really your main source of playing then do what I do. I play till I hit the boosts rewards before the first iso reward or around 3k then I skip the rest and play ddq and pvp/lr/sim. I do that for a few pve and I usually end up getting a noob bracket. So far by doing that I have secured a 1st place when rhulk covers were awarded last time then same with miles. And then I finished 3rd during the double iso 8 pve and I took the last 2 days lightly. I just did my 3 regular clears those days and still ended 3rd. I was about 50k up on 10th and it was helpful. I took a few pve off now cause it was a grind for them. So far with the new pve after Kate release I've done maybe 3k points and I'm done now. I'll go hard once again for covers if the covers are needed for my 4* during eots but we will see once rewards are up. If nothing I want then I'll hit my 3k points or get the boosts and be done again. Usually if you finish 800+ for a few events you will get an easier bracket.0
