Uh oh slice choice matters?

I've just been choosing the one based most conveniently for my work schedule, but I just noticed that there are unofficial quality challenge slices on a post I read. Is this accurate? I've been doing slice 4 but I read that was the monster one, oh dear...

Yup, it definitely matters. Slice 4 tends to be the busiest, which means the most points are available for climbing. However, it also means there's that many more players who can hit you. Playing Slice 4 typically requires a pretty strong roster and strategic use of shields to do well.

Try different slices out and you'll find one that fits better with your play STYLE rather than play TIME. I'm in one that ends while I'm sleeping, so I just play early and hit 8 hours shields at the end. If points don't matter, then just climb and free fall once you hit your mark.

Shields are your friends. In the Monday-Wednesday tournaments I usually pick slice 1 that ends in the middle of the night, but I just play in the evening, shield until the end (I can usually do both an 8-hour and a 3-hour shield) and then not worry about placement.

Slice choice matters a lot less than strength of roster.

If you're struggling to hit 1000 with a 3* roster, a different slice will not magically make it easy (unless you're eating cake off LINE).

With a champed 4* roster, you can make 1000 in any slice (except possibly 2, that one is dark and full of danger).
Here the choice of slice influences how many shields you need to hit 1300, which ranges between 0 and 3 in some very bad circumstances.

The slice you choose also depends on what you want. If your goal is hitting 1k or 1300, slice 3 and slice 4 are the best because they have the most points and so overall scores are higher. If you care less about points and more about getting t1/t5/t10, then those slices are terrible because you need like 2k+ just to ensure t5.

If you are talking about PVP and aiming for progression rewards, stop choosing the slice based on your schedule. Rather pick a slice and then play /early/ when you can.
