what makes them good?

I've got the punisher, rags, patch, and dooms cards but don't know why I should level them up. Everyone always talks about them but I just don't know what makes them so good. They don't look all that impressive when I read their abilities.

Anyone have any input? Its much needed

  • There are individual threads for each of them in Character Discussion, I'm sure you'll find your answer there
  • You have to have them paired with certain characters to see what is being talked about.
    Ex: Obw and Punisher. AP steal, heal, both increase attacks.
  • Im also assuming that you dont have them fully covered yet either. When you level up their skills they become spectacular, and they all either scale very well with level or add an amount of support that, when paired with other characters, creates a great combo. Also, their color coverage is good.

    I felt the same way when I was new and was looking at my first level 15, single cover 3*s. they didnt seem nearly as good as my comparable leveled 1* - and they weren't. 3*s really start to shine when their level surpasses 90 or so. I hear the sweet spot is right around level 100.
  • generally accepted stat wise a ** lvl 85 maxed is equals to a *** lvl 100's stats.
    anything below that and a ** is superior match and hp for its class-wise.

    I dont have much on Rags or Patch (just a couple of covers each), but for Punisher he has the same colors as MStorm. Im not a fan of his abilities so I just have him so he could be a good tank for her colors. I leveled both to 50 but she was still stronger on all her colors than him. Now I have him at 60 and its still the same. The best thing about him, doesnt really require leveling up, its the red ability to down opponents. Mine will down anyone with less than 30% health. This is good against high level enemies, but if Punisher isnt leveled up, then he just becomes a corpse.

    Doom, IMO, is all about the damage tiles. A higher level means higher damage. Like 1000 damage or more to single target at end of each round.

    Everything about punisher said here is basically wrong. His green sets out attack tiles. His black takes advantage of his strike tiles via AOE damage and attack tiles. His red is very situational. It's good vs Pve lvl 200+ and highly buffed covers.
  • Strike tiles and attack tiles don't seem impressive if you haven't used characters with them before. If you're more used to seeing direct damage abilities, you're probably undervaluing the usefulness of tile creation.

    Rag is pretty mediocre though. He can shake the board and maybe cause a cascade, but I never see him unless he's buffed.
  • Patch is awesome. I run him 3/5/5, at level 131 (and climbing). He tanks all damage for me on red green yellow and heals it back up. Red regularly deals up to 7000 + damage. Green does a 1700 damage + 3 strike tiles, with OBW means another 1000-1300 damage on the same turn (not counting cascades).

    Punisher (3/5/5) at max can pump out incremental damage very quickly. 1 green use and 1 black use throws out strike tiles and 1000+ damage across the board, can cascade, and generates attack tiles. Patch Green + Punisher Black is even better, Red is just gravy for lvl 230 fights. (lvl230 hulk? 8 red ap punisher use = 8000 damage)

    Doom at max is tanky, deals 1000 + damage with 6 demons (great combo with strike tiles) and his blue cascades the board.

    Any strike tile character with C.Mag(blue/red), MN Mag(purple), GSBW(purple), Doom(blue/black) deals absurd damage.

    Rag is junk.
  • Patches is a beast! With 6 in Berserker rage and high level he quickly turns the match into a bloodbath. Mine is at lvl 120 and with the extra ~720 dmg per attack (any attack!) the match is over within a few turns. Downside is you have to use him carefully or pair Patch with someone that can help you deal with the extra 720+ dmg you give the enemy. In the Hulk PvE with a powered up Black Panter a Berserker Rage followed by Rage of the Panther kills everyone most of the time. Rage turns a meager attack tile from Punisher into an 800 per turn dot (damage over time). OBW's double tap with espionage (at skill 5 lvl 85) is work 1700+ dmg a match for her colors.

    Aside from Patches Green, the Red is the Best There Is so long as Patches owns most of the tiles on the board (mainly red, green, yellow). A full yellow skill is also some nice regen. Take a headbutt from Juggs and several turns later Patches is full strength ready for another icon_e_wink.gif.
  • Who are you currently using? They tend to outdps and outank most 2-stars. If you mean compared to other 3-stars, sure, they aren't significantly better.
