Length of Event: 3.5 days
Sub-Events? 8 Rounds
Main Bracket Size: 20
Unique Reward(s): No
Other Notes:
- The first 20 people who join the event under an alliance are locked into that leaderboard for the remainder of the event.
- If you join the event for an alliance that already has 20 people in the same leaderboard, you’ll be put into another leaderboard for the remainder of the event.
- Your alliance must choose a side to fight on. This event is balanced so an Alliance can complete one of the Boss Battles, but not both. Trying to switch sides will not help you.
- If you're not sure which side you want to play, it's okay to try both, but your alliance should focus on one side to get the best rewards.
- Every playable character in the game is playable on each side.
- Missions completed on one side are locked out for both sides until the mission refreshes.
- There are two different types of missions: Boss mission and Supporting Character Missions.
- Boss Mission
- This is the first mission available when the event starts.
- The boss’ health at the top will go down based on the amount of damage you and your Alliance does to him, even if you lose the match.
- The mission pin will enter cooldown for 8 hours or until you beat one of the supporting Character Missions.Steve Rogers (Civil War)
Earth’s Mightiest Vigilantes - 0 Yellow AP
(PASSIVE) Captain America calls his allies to stand by his side. If Cap is the last member of his team and one does not already exist, creates two Fortified Countdown tile which adds Sam Wilson, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, or Winter Soldier to his team.
Shield Bash - 7 Red AP
Shield raised, Steve charges forward, deflecting incoming projectiles and smacking his enemy where it hurts. Deals damage to the target and creates Protect tiles.
(PASSIVE) Captain America cannot be stunned or sent airborne.
Coordinated Offensive - 9 Blue AP
Time to take the fight to them. Remove friendly Strike, Protect, and Attack tiles. For each tile removed, deal damage and grant allies a burst of health.
(PASSIVE) At the start of each turn, Captain America generates Red AP for each teammate.
- Supporting Character Missions
- 5 different missions that each have a different featured character. Each side has a "Team Cap" or "Team Iron Man" mission that will require any three characters with that affiliation.
- Completing these missions reduces the health of the boss at the top of the screen.
- Reset every 8 hours. The opponents change every time the mission resets.
- Completing a mission on one side locks out the mission on the other side.
- Boss Mission
- Once your Alliance defeats the boss by depleting his health bar, his health will reset and you’ll unlock the next round in the event. There are 8 rounds in all that your Alliance can complete.
- If your Alliance is able to complete all 8 rounds, you will earn a 5-Star cover of Iron Man (Mark XLVI).

Two fortified tiles means you can't rely on 3-star Falcon to prevent Cap from summoning a buddy this time around. Patch/Daken/Iron Fist is still a pretty good 3-star team to use, especially if Patch and Daken tank all of the colors for Iron Fist.0

Last Civil War, I was on Team Cap. This Civil War, I'm doing Team Iron Man, and it seems easier. Cap's friends don't jump in front of him, so you ignore his friends, tank their damage, and finish Cap fast.
My favorite Team Iron Man 3* (or less) team so far is 3* Thor, 3* Punisher (5/3/5 - give the green to Thor), and OBW. Thor is a little slow to start, especially since you're holding 8 red in reserve to finish Cap, but OBW keeps stealing his loot! This way, Punisher throws a few black Molotov Cocktails, Thor hammers Cap to 40%, Punisher finishes the job.
Hint: Cap's health is constant through a round, so get out your calculator, find EXACTLY 40% of his health, and never miss with Retribution.
Another good team is Fury (boosted this event), 3* Punisher (5/3/5), and Hood (5/5/3). Hood hides behind Fury and Pun, so he's just slowing down Team Cap while speeding up Fury's slow but heavy hitting powers. Again, the objective is to get Cap to 40% and let Punisher finish him. Because you are constantly matching red to prevent Cap from bashing you too often, Punisher ends up tanking. That means Punisher gets a Health Pack snack before each Cap boss battle.0 -
Apparently,Captain America's not going to surrender without a fight.
Team Cap stands together, so Steve will try and bring in his allies to lend a hand. Take him down and his teammates will retreat.
Cap is also a master of strategy and defense, so keep his Protect tiles in check to gain the upper hand needed to win the Civil War!
Which is nice to know, but surely I don't have to be told this every single time I fight him.0 -

I tried this one after changing my Punisher (he's usually 3/5/5) and it worked rather well. OBW's blue at 5 really helped out as well, although you need to be careful since she's got the leasat health and tanks purple and blue.knifedge wrote:Another good team is Fury (boosted this event), 3* Punisher (5/3/5), and Hood (5/5/3). That's a team I hadn't really thought of using in any event before. Other than a monster cascade that nearly took Punisher out in one fight, it worked great, mostly because of Fury's 5 levels in Demolition. (Whining note - I've received 16 covers for Fury, and 11 of them have been Demolition. How about using Command Points to switch covers?)0 -
Is it true that you can substitute Ant-Man for the nodes that require War Machine? I already have War Machine so I can't test it. Thanks for looking into it, please post results here. We have a guy in our alliance that said he was able to sub in Ant-Man a few times and others it didn't work.0

The Team Cap equivalent for the War Machine required node is an Ant Man required node. So if you don't have WM, but do have AM (I happen to be in that situation) you can do the AM node on team Cap to unlock the boss battles again.
The team I've been using on earlier rounds was (mostly) IM40 (5/3/5) along with Vision and Doom. Visions (bugged) blue for great match damage, Doom for his big purple nuke (and if you happen to stumble upon enough black, some demons as well), and IM40's boosted red power also nukes for about 8K.
Once we got to round 5 I started using Hulk/GSBW/IM40, because match damage alone is enough to trigger Hulk Anger and it's easy to generate a lot of green that way.
We're in round 6 now though, and it's proved to be not 100% reliable now; there's a lot of HP to eat away on the boss and he does tons of damage.0 -
Yes, in Round 6, I had to switch to my climbing team. Patch 5/3/5, cMags 3/5/5, Loki 5/3/5, +2 green/black. As always with this team, focus on black and green, then blue and red. Accept the fact that you'll take a few Shield Bashes to the face (but remember Loki can only take one!), and ignore the countdown tiles for Cap's friends. Save Magneto's red and blue until you have Patch's green and Loki's black. At that point you're ready to win.
Patch's sets 6 heavy strike tiles, then use Magneto's to nuke the team-ups. Board shake is bonus match + strike damage. Use Magneto's because you should now have 7 red and blue on the full colors board. If you get enough matches from board shakes, let Magneto fire again. Use Loki's to raise shields, and grind out any health Cap has left.
btw, if Cap summons FalCap, and FalCap turns all the yellow tiles to protect tiles, then use Loki's black to make them your strike tiles. Cap and FalCap tried that to me twice, and it just made the cascades finish Cap that much faster.0 -

That wave node with phoenix in it, what happens when her countdown tile resolves and theres no space on the team for her to slot in?0
