Add an ELO ranking system?

I was thinking this might help place people in brackets based on their ELO so they aren't turned off when they jump into one and see first place is 500-1000 points ahead of them already.

I'm no expert with the formulas nor how to implement such a thing, but I'm sure somebody on the dev team can do something to help bring the players into better brackets.
