My ISO Crisis

OK, so I/we know that there's a shortage of ISO available compared to needs, I decided to add up my full need and even though I knew it was bad, it STILL surprised me. For starters I currently have 16 3* chars max leveled and champed, now:

I have 12 3* chars fully covered but not max leveled, then several more still not fully covered. The fully covered require 1,141,993 ISO, to buy that amount (yeah right) would cost $1,500 USD. Earning that at an average of 7,000 a day will take close to 6 months. Either option is "less than optimal."

So now I'm wondering if it's even worth it to complete my 3* roster considering the size of the investment, especially considering how many 4/5* chars there are now and they just keep adding more! It would be nice to have another DDQ-style option to up the ISO flow.

Sorry, I know there have been plenty of posts on this topic, I guess I just wanted to vent and also see what others thought about finishing a 3* roster.

I finished my 40th 3* champ during Civil War (I love my Calendar Squirrel), and found a broad, ready to hot-swap, roster helpful in Gauntlet and PvE in general, but if I were thinking about the PvP picture, I'd focus on the 4* nucleus and work on those.

I found the "3* champs give you 4* covers" argument to be overrated. I do like that now, I'll never burn a 3* cover until sometime in mid-2023. But if you like gains in PvP, I'd recommend an evenly-built core team of useable 4*s (or 4*s with AP-generating 3*s).

Many would say to focus on 4* since the 3*s basically were nerfed with the champ update. I have seen some others champ them all since you'll not waste a 3* cover again and you'll get hp & cp & 4* covers going forward. I do a little of both. I champed the obvious 3*s first, about 15 of them, then I maxed a four, then I maxed about 7 more 3*s, now I'm working on a couple more 4*s.

I def wouldn't max ALL 3*s. I just can't stomach putting iso into Colossus for example. I did max a few I normally wouldn't have, like Beast and Quicksilver because of the 4* covers they give out.

Most 4s aren't worth playing without significant covers in them. In the meantime, I would just keep going through relevant 3s. You mentioned you're netting 7k ISO a day; that seems low. Deadpool alone is 3700 before any tacos and the 3*. A full transitional 3-4 roster that plays pve and PVP should be averaging 20k ISO a day.

When I am needing an ISO boost to finishing championing a 3* like when I end a PvE higher than expected and get a small handful of 3* covers I don't wanna waste.... I sell a fully levelled 2* Champion

    65,000 ISO

Then I start rebuilding as 2* covers are a lot easier to come by.

Once fully levelled again the champion covers will give my 3*s extra covers etc

Before selling though I made sure I had a few starting covers... Usually 3 as that starts the rebuild off better

Currently rebuilding 4 2*s leaving 1 championed and that choice was all around strategy for DDQ... Kept Magneto championed and sold storm first and and I have her back up to level 78 - his purple feeds her blue and I got 5 blue covers so she has some strength back in her

8 weeks since I started this process and never lost a DDQ and feel in a better position to get better rewards

there are different ideas here and not a one size fits all answer. I know one guy who hoarded everything until he finished all 2s and 3s. then opened everything and it all got applied to characters. he now has a cmags in the 220s and his 3s are really solid. I couldn't wait that long to work on 4s, so I maxed all of tier 1 and most of tier 2 (I have 10 total) of the 4s before I decided to go back to completely finish my 2s/3s. I figured between my 10 champed 4s and my oml, that would hold me over in pvp for a while and finishing the bottom of my roster sounded better than slogging through a couple more 4s. so I have about 13 more to finish. then the 2s I don't have. then I can open tokens. I'm up to 208 various gold tokens (not including tacos) and ~105 tacos. looking forward to the day when I open everything and start cycling my 2s and really start seeing my 3s surge. by then I should have some clear 4* projects to work on. already have 1, but I don't think i'll pause this right now (I may choose to later, but maxing quake would be a big delay here).

its a marathon. and not really even that because a marathon has a finish line. here there is no finish line. some treat it like a sprint and just frustrate themselves. key is finding what you enjoy and sticking to that.
